dvd and mixer are in there, but you have to assign the keys to get to them in girder.

4/24/05 EDIT: Added Video Screen commands with showcontrol button and tweaked Video Browser Toggle to work better. Also, added minimize and quit buttons...Working on phoco stuff next...

I don't have a touchscreen, so I had to make a gml file that would allow my Snapstream Firefly remote to control mostly everything in RR. Yet, I also wanted the layout to be simple enough so that I wouldn't ever have to look down at my remote. The buttons on the remote correspond directly to the layout on the screen so it's really easy to use.

So far, this file works perfectly for me and if you have a Firefly it should work great for you too, but if you don't then it's really easy to replace the eventstrings with your own button presses and I have included my Excel file as well so you can figure out how you want to customize yours first before you jump into the girder file.

    Just a few random notes:

The only screens I needed were Main, Audio/Audio Browser, Vide/Video Broswer, Phone, Apps, and skin browser. If you want to add others, it's not difficult, just see how I did mine.

I wanted to be able to scroll around on the main menu, but there is no way for Girder to recognize which button you select and thus to enable the correct group and take you to the right screen (is there?).

It would also be cool if when a button on the remote is pressed, the corresponding icon on the screen would go in the ON position so that, for instance, when on the Audio Browser screen and the CLEARLIST button is hit, the icon would light up so that you know you cleared it, Guino?

    Added:
    Universal gamma control
    Skin browser control
Cleaner audio/audio browser and video/video browser transitions
I figured out the audio/audio browser and video/video browser toggles.

You MUST have the Alarmtimer turned on in your girder settings for this to work.

I tweaked the play command from audio browser and video browser to run smoother. It shouldn't pause now after you select something in the browsers.

    Suggestions? Hollerback!
All, has any one done an x10 remote version of this yet ? I've lost my origonal file and was thinking about having a go with Contaygious's may be ?

    If not dont worry

For all I know there are different X10 remotes available, I have an ATI one that came with my video card and it is also a X10 remote.. always had it in the car, it always worked, and I hardly ever use it since I have a touch-screen.

as you mentioned, you need to open girder and for each command on the left, change the "Target" from 'rr.exe' to RoadRunner.exe. I did this today, it only takes a minute if you leave RR open as you can select it from the list above after you click the button "Target" -- but you have to do it for EACH command though. Make sure only the checkbox in front of "RoadRunner.exe" is checked (and the the other checkboxes are not). Other than that, all I can say is that it is in fact working with the latest versions.

I got it working again i was also playing with my commands, so i think i destroy they girder file a little bit before i notices that i had to chance rr.exe to roadrunner.exe.

*Note to my self: chance one thing at the time

Hi Guino, (or any Girder-specialist ;-))

did you ever manage to set up the ATI Remote so that the "<<" and ">>" buttons work as they should (short press = next song, long press doing a fast forward within the song)?

It must have to do with the 3 differnet states of the buttons, that girder recognizes. (Button-down, Button repeat, Button-up)
I tried so hard, but could't figure this out...

Thanks anyone else who can help me.

OK. After all I found the answer myself...
Some more googling gave me the important hint about the Alarmtimer Plugin in Girder...

Works as follows (Girder 3.2 with a X10-remote):
-activate "AlarmTimer Plugin" in Girder Plugins
-add a command ">>-Timer_DOWN", as Eventstring learn "FF-Button Down"
    -on the Plugins-TAB select Alarmtimer,
-press Settings: Timeout 600ms, press "ON CANCEL" and select your command that sends "NEXT" to RR. press "ON EXIT" and select the "FFWD"-command.
-make second timer with the same timer ID (important!) and set this one timout=0, NO commands for enter, cancel, exit. (this one cancels the first timer if the button is released). Learn this command with eventstring of "FF-Button-UP"
-only thing I had to do now was to learn the "FF-Button-Repeat" Event to the "FFWD" command, but give it a Antirepeat- Wait-Time of 500ms

After that do the same things for the "<<"-Buttons.

Sounds complicated maybe, that's why I attach this part of my Girder-File. the eventstrings are for a X10-remote (like ATI remote wonder), if you use another remote, you must learn the eventstrings anew.

    Maybe this helps someone.

Not sure you tried it but there's a startffwd and stopffwd along with startfrwd and stopfrwd commands you can use too.

I had not yet played with press-and-hold of remote controls other than for scrolling purposes.
