I actually added this to my to do list for rrcam, and then my computer crashed. it had been discussed before... I cant really do unlimited text, as it would really slow the processing down, but i can make it so you can specifiy a background text color, so that it would be white text on black background like in police car videos.. or any other combo..

i'll look more in to it as soon as i get my new hard drive.. the one in my laptop died.. I'm 99% sure i can still get all the RRCam files and sources off it, so as soon as it shows up and I can find a copy of VB6, i'll get working on it again..

So, will there only be support for two cameras in this, or more than that?

And did I read correctly that they cannot be displayed on the same screen at the same time?

Seems as if this guy was able to do it: http://www.mp3car.com/vbulletin/soft...-software.html

Maybe have a similar interface to Traffic Cams:

Is this at all possible?

I've got plans to have 3-4 cameras in my car, so it would be fantastic to find out if it's possible to view them all on the same page

This is a great addition to RoadRunner!! Used it this weekend to record part of my trip from St Louis to Nashville, TN: 2 hours 32 minutes drive time using Divx file was 626M at 109.25 minutes = ~1.4 times realtime at 8 frames/second, 80% quality. Not bad at all.

My first question is how do I get plug-in labels to display on the RRCam screen? Here's my situation. I use FreeDrive for GPS and there are several labels FreeDrive sends to RR, i.e., CustomFDRoad, CustomFDETA, CustomFDETR, CustomFDNextMan, CustomFDNextStreet, etc. I use these labels to display routing info on all my RR screens that read something like: "Turn CustomFDNextMan in CustomFDNextManDist onto CustomFDNextStreet" and it displays as "Turn [HL]Right [/HL]in [HL]18.65 miles [/HL]onto [HL]I-64[/HL]." Unfortunately, if I put one of these labels into RRCam it doesn't show up. I'd like to display "CustonFDRoad" in RRcam above the City, State, Zip that I get from the locate labels.

Can you look into this for me or contact CdRsKuLL to figure out how to get these labels to display?

Also, for some reason I can't get this beta to use the naming convention put into the config.ini. I have the following in my config.ini:

Codec=DIVX
#MSVC
Quality=80
FPS=8
Path=C:My Documents\My Music\Videos\VIDEO CAMS\
Filename=CarPC LATE L:TIME

But the above generates files: "10-21-2007 - 132158.avi"
And when I load them into RR's video browser all I see is "132158." I have no idea how to fix either of these issues. I assume the video browser problem has something to do with the dashes being ignored by RR, but I hope if I can change the name to "CarPC071021 1321548.avi" I can overcome the browser problem. I do remember you saying that the date command is hardwired in windows so is there a way to use an RR label other than "date" (say maybe "TODAY" or "w_lsup" or "gasfiledate" or to get extreme maybe a autoit script to rearrange the date into my prefered format and then call it into RR through a setvar command reading a .txt file) to get the above desired result?

Thanx

I have plans for multiple cameras too, so trust me, im workin on it =] The problem with multi cams and getting them to display on one skin is just a problem with the OCX i used to grab/proccess/display video. Im workin on another way =]

You can use any label by simply using L:labelname. Try setting it to this:
Turn L:CustomFDNextMan in L:CustomFDNextManDist onto L:CustomFDNextStreet

if that doesnt work, then you'll have to wait until i get my computer up and running again to look further in to it.

as far as the filenames go, it SHOULD be working, but i guess not =/ There were a lot of bugs in that last release, and im PRETTY sure that I fixed them in 2.0 final.

LATE and L:TIME are pretty much stuck how they are, until I find a way to safely use the RR formated ones. Its usualyl a problem of invalid characters, like /, for use in a file name. What you could do is make an autoit script to make your own date that is formated however you want, and have it set the label in RR, I think. Again, I have to look in to this whenever I get my computer working again. Looking at about a month before I can get to my harddrive i ordered =[

also, to get it closer to realtime, sinc eits playing faster than it recorded, just set FPS lower. I cant WAIT to have this fixed in the future. The low FPS is the one thing i absolutly HATE about RRCam right now =[

Can someone please clarify for me that the data that is overlaid ont the video is/is not saved with the video.

Ie. If I play the video back later on, will that overlaid data be on there too?
I installed my carpc into my pet Kangaroo, mate.

NO JOY!Didn't work. I think it may be a timing issue based on the comsend to RR and then RR creating the label.

ANYONE ELSE EXPERIENCING THIS PROBLEM, and if not could you post your segment from your RRCam config.ini.

Actually I like this "feature," I'm working on getting 2:1 realtime in my recordings since I don't store audio - that way reviewing the video goes faster and the size of the file is kept to a minimum.

Thanks again for a great program.

NiSlo: If you look at the attachment to my last post, that was a snapshot of the video after saving it to my harddrive. So the answer to whether the overlaid data is saved in the video is YES!
