The same way you'd implement any other RR plugin. The included sample skin files should give you an idea on how to use the mpg functions as well as the documentation in this thread and the readme's in the zip file.

This is not a complete plugin by any means, it works for my purposes and I released it because of interest from other members. I'd be happy to answer any questions regarding plugin functions and/or help to resolve any errors that might pop up during use.

Otherwise there's plenty of info on the forum already on how to integrate a RR plugin. Some searching should serve you well.

Hey, fair answer man :-)
I'm just starting to learn this and thought a plug-in would be some sort of .exe file that gets installed....wondering how this works with or has any affect with my OBD-DIAG program...looks like I need to so some reading on this plug-in thing...

Yea it's a bit more complicated than that, but nothing too crazy. I went into all of this having no idea either, a couple weeks of hardcore forum reading and I was competent enough to not only install plugins but write this one as well. Just takes some dedication and research.

Sorry to ask this, but I have been trying to figure out how to get this to work since you posted it, I have been looking all over this forum and cannot figure out how to install it, all the readme says is "Copy obdmpg.dll and obdmpg.ini into RR's main directory".

If you could point me to a post or two that would help me figure this out that would be so awesome.

This plugin looks like it will be awesome. I found odb 2007 but I have no MAF sensor, and it requires one. I do know how to (how I found this) but I just can't figure this RR/plugin thing out.

Ok here is a simple way to see this working with no RR knowledge. Download and install RR, install latest LSX Void skin. All my sample skins are done with LSX in mind.

Then copy the sample skin files over into the LSX Void directory. Then you should have a MPG display on the main skin as well as a trip log type display on one of the secondary menus.

In more general terms, to implement a RR plugin the .dll must be placed in RR's main directory. In this case the .ini must be placed there as well. The .ini must also be edited to reflect the configuration of your vehicle and carputer.

Once that is done you must register the .dll, this can be done by calling the command regsvr32 obdmpg.dll from within the RR directory. After that's complete the line x,obdmpg must be added to the menu.skin file of the skin you are using.

This should now enable you to use the skin commands anywhere inside the skin. In addition to the separate PID's listed above the following are also available:

• Displays Instant MPG - insmpg
• Displays Trip MPG - trpmpg
• Displays Overall Average MPG - avgmpg
• Miles Traveled Overall - ovrdst
• Miles Remaining (Based on inputted Tank size) - milesrem
• Miles Traveled Trip - trpdst
• Overall Gallons Used - ovrgal
• Trip Gallons Used - trpgal

There are also additional button inputs to adjust the calculation for accuracy with every fill-up. This is implemented in the sample skins included in the zip file.

Easiest way is with a batch file in the RR directory. I updated the zip package in the first post to include one. Download it again and make sure to copy the RunMe.bat file into the RR directory along with the obdmpg.dll and obdmpg.ini files. Then double click the RunMe.bat file to register the dll.

Is it possible for you to include the following PIDs in your plugin


PID04 Calculated engine load value
PID01 Number of trouble codes and I/M info
PID46 Ambient air temperature

Also the routines that you have with “miles” and “gallons”. Can they be converted to “Kilometers” and “Liters” ?

PID04 and PID46 are no problem. PID01 is Bit encoded, i'm not sure if I can decipher it's output using the elm327 class that i'm using. I'll look into it though.

Shouldn't be too hard to add kilometers and liters. I'll add a Metric/English option to the ini file.

I'm kind swamped the first half of this week with school but i'll try to get an updated version up as soon as I can.

Also, is anybody actually using this at the moment? I'd like to get some outside user feedback on it's actual operation.
