sadly I ordered it a month ago and the only source I could find Dealtime "ran out of stock before it could ship to me" after "we have given your package priority at our warehouse"
So I had to cancel the order.. just have a wired scanner at the moment. I'm waiting for DFX 5 and my wireless card then I'm finally building my car PC woot. Bits and pieces of this have been lying around my apartment for far far too long.
Thanks, Steven. I would love to have OBD, but sure don't want to run another wire.
Are you still actively working on this project? I'm wondering, how do you determine mileage? Is there a PID associated with Mileage or Trip Mileage?
If you look back through this thread I believe there a quite a few posts on the calculation of MPG. It's not as simple as pulling a single PID. If you want a simple OBD MPG solution I'd recommend using TouchScan embedded in RR at this point in time if the current OBDMPG doesn't work for you.
Loving this plugin since I've rebuilt my setup. The only problem I run into (and it's not really a problem...more of a nuisance) is that if I don't switch to the OBDMPG screen within the first couple minutes of the carpc being powered up, I get an error. At this moment, I can't exactly remember what the error says, but I believe I enabled the debug feature in the ini. It's been a couple trips since the error but I can post the log if you need it.
The only thing I have left to do is modify my obd adapter to turn off when the carpc does. Otherwise as much as I drive it drains the battery before I drive again.
I have all PID's and such reading the values and data from the obd. I have set all variables in the .ini appropriately. I have a MAF se tot true so I didn't need to have EV set. I am getting no calculations based on gas mileage at all.
Check 2 posts above yours. No active develepment of this plug in anymore, unfortunately. It has been over a year since the last file update.
I am using Dash Command embedded in RR/DFX with auto connect and love the way the default gauges and skin are looking. Check it out for a supported option.
And to be fair the author suggests Touch Scan for the same reasons.
I had looked at Dash Command and am interested. I do like the plugin even for the simple fact of having the indicator at the top of DFX that shows connectivity. Maybe i'll DL Dash Command and give it a shot.
I liked the plug in too, as it would auto connect each time you started RR, and also liked being able to show info in any screen you wanted.
OBDMPG would constantly freeze on me though. I could never even get through a full tank to be able to input info for adjustments.
I had started working with Mezz to get through some trouble shooting, but I think he moved on to other interests.
It probably worked for him, and so he did not have the time to deal with everyone elses, issues, which I completely understand.
On the other hand, I feel Dash Command is really working on working with hobbyists in this market. I was using a Nissan GTR gauge set, but the latest update came with a skin set that is really professional and looks custom for your car instead of trying to copy something. If there was a way to get an OBD indicator to show in RR it would be great.
