ok i've got downloading/extraction working in there base form. At SOME point i'd like to add a progress bar but i dont know how to handle that in .net NOR in RR as i've never used a slider before. But we'll cross that bridge when we come to it.

The NEXT step is to register the .dll files which should be easy to do. After that comes appending the menu.skin file with the (x) line. I'd like some feedback on this. Should i append EACH menu.skin in every skin installed on the computer or just current skinpath? Either can be done i'm just not sure how it should be handled

well at this point the idea was to install the developers "sample skin" in the skin folder. I wont match but at least the plugin is installed in its full form that way. If we want to leave the skin out thats fine and good.. but the plugin isnt really useful if there's no skin attached to it from the start. I'll leave that up to popular consensus

But yea i could pretty easily make this standalone... as long as you bear in mind i've NEVER made a windows form based application. I may need someone to pretty it up

Personally, I found the easiest way to do the plugin's is with an include file. Trying to write them to the menu skin is difficult, with the possibility of even screwing up the menu.skin depending on what comments are in there and such, trying to insert the lines into the right location ect ect....

In the DFX skin, I have a plugins.txt in the skin folder, then only one line is needed in the menu.skin:
    "INC,Plugins.txt".

This makes it very easy for adding and removing plugins, as the plugins.txt is just simple list, here is a copy of the one in my skin folder:

    X,SKINTOOL
    X,DayNightEvents
    X,GPSEVENTS
    X,MOVIETIMES
    X,RRMEDIADB
    X,RRSPEAK
    /X,SILABSDT
    X,RRGAS

The /X at the beginning of the line just shows that it is "installed and is turned off"

The nice thing about this, is when you install a new skin, you just have to copy over the plugins.txt into the new skin folder, and add one line to the menu.skin file. As time goes on, hopefully, the INC,Plugins.txt could be adopted by skinners, and nothing would need to be added to the menu.skin file.

Enough already. Everybody knows your screen name was no mistake and that intimidated everyone from your thread.
