ok so blue and i hadda talk last night and he introduced some really great features that quite honestly i never even thought of. Instead of having this program just be a browser/installer of plugins.. why not make it a full plugin manager. The plugin will be able to display the current installed plugins and there status (enabled/disabled). You will be able to enable/disable/install/uninstall from this plugin in its future form. To make this process as smooth as possible i'm adopted johns idea of "plugins.txt".. and i hope that becomes the standard.

We also discussed how to manage the skin files in relation to the plugins and i find it best to leave skin files out of the installation process altogether. What this means is the plugin will be installed and registered... but any skin files will need to be copied manually by the user. This makes the most sense because most people will have to copy over matching skin files anyway, PLUS other skin screens will have to be modified to make use of the newly installed plugins anyway.

Thanks to blue for the ideas... if anyone else thinks of something lemme know!

Thanks to Rob and the people of Mp3Car for hosting the .xml. Its now online in its simplest form to give you guys an idea of how simple it is:

    http://www.mp3car.com/roadrunner/PluginDatabase.xml

There are currently only 2 categories.. Entertainment and Utilities. Any ideas on more? Categories are used to sort the available plugin list. My current plan is to keep plugins in alphabetical order within the categories but maybe EVENTUALLY we'll have some sort of plugin rating system which will allow users to sort by rating.

    1. thought they were supposed to be .zip's only, you have a rar

    2. That has just shown up a limitation of chrome, chrome just displays the text as one long line, whereas IE will show it in XML format.

    3. Gonna have to work out how downloading my dll's is going to be handled now :hmmmm:

i dont know how u'll manage the download of your stuff... but if you come up with a suggestion i'll definitely work with you on it.

BTW guys, i'd sure like to have some more plugins added to the XML so i can test some plugins i dont already have installed. I wanna be sure its downloading and installing more plugins than just the ones i've written. If you'd like to submit a plugin for me to test thru the plugin manager Then PM me with the info. Remember its ...

    1. Filename (.dll name)
    2. Description of plugin
    3. Version Number
    4. Download Link
    5. Download Image (optional)
    6. Developer Name (or user id whatever)

Wouldnt you know the hardest part of this plugin is now creating the progressive slider for the download status! lol Can someone explain how to skin these things in "beginner skinner" language. I have the progress variable working (goes from 0 to 100).. i just cant get the slider to move. Any skin examples would be great!

Ah yes, I had that issue as well. you need to make sure the value you sens back is an integer value between 0-65536. I had to have ReturnSlider = Int(pSlider) where pslider was my slider value for it to work.

As you have a value 0-100 you need to multiply your value by 65536/100 and then have ReturnSlider = Int(pSlider) in the slider return function.

ah yes forgot about the 65536 factor. Unforunately the slider is still not moving. This is my slider code:

    Code:
    Case "rrpm_DownloadProgress"
                    ReturnSlider = Int((DownloadWorker.mRead / DownloadWorker._size) * (65536 / 100))
and this is in my .skin file

    Code:
    S01,27,214,520,33,28,214,520,55,H,"BAR.PNG","VideoSLider.gif",15,"rrpm_DownloadProgress",""
i basically copied the "SONGPOS" slider from the audio_player.skin in DFX4, just changed the location/size. So i'm thinkin its probably a skin problem rather than a plugin problem
