If you register this as admin, you should not need to copy/register every time you boot.
BUT.. there have been some bugs with vmWare and this earlier... What version of vmWare are you using, and on what OS? (I take it that you run XP in the virtual environment).

That's what I though, but I have done it now to be sure.

I run XP on both the host and the virtual machine.
VMware is 5.1 I think. Not the newest 5.2. Tried to install that yesterday but it came back with an error message that I had to remove my eval VMWorkstation to continue installation. Which I did not do :-)

Is the problem that I am not running RR?

Hum.. I think the bug is present i all V5.x
There should be a trial on v6.5 if I'm not mistaken...
(Need to register).

The problem might be that your not running RR.. As the service seems to be in "hibernation" while it's not in use. Perhaps RR activates the service? I have not studied this, and cannot realy sugest anything here.

Hopefully I will be able to take a look at it later on today, when I'm at home.

Oh wait... vmWare do not work in Windows 7 64-bit

So I found the problem, hrm... (boy, do I feel stupid)

I had a COM port problem. The COM port given by ini file was not there....

It's going to be fun setting it up for my system! Well, I've got the ini file fixed allready, but too tired to test it now. Instead I will lay down wide awake :-)

When I press volume up it does it too quick in Road runner, i.e. going from 25% to 35% directly. How can I make it respond slower. I tried intermessage delay etc. but no effect.

It is really hard while driving with one click on + Button on steering wheel to have volume increased by one step only.

What about the "Repeat Interval" in the ini file? That is set to 50 in the default file. have not tested what it does, but it might be an idee to remove that line entirely.

I know that the button on the steering wheel is not that fast, and that when held it sends a number of "incs" all by itself. No special handling needed.

No guys, when you press VolUP or VolDown on the wheel the IBUS broadcasts many same messages for one press.
It means, for example, that you press button for 50ms (just standart press of standart button) but BMW IBUS broadcasts about two messages at this time, so for RR it's like you press button two times.
So for this case i've implement 'RepeatInterval' parameter for any Incoming message.
By default it set to 50ms but you can set it for 100 or 500ms if you'd like. It besides in the end of .ini file.

For now i'll try to update mechanism for open COM ports without 'MSCOMM.ocx'

But i can't test it coz i've broken my car

When I press volup in my car I first get one message, and after maybe a second still pressing the button I get a hole lot! No release message. (this is very easily observed with Navcoder or IBusAnalyzer) I see no need for IBusCom to generate messages for my need. Now, If I were to implement volup on another button because I did not have steering wheel buttons it would be a different matter.

I have made a small ibus.ini file to control iTunes, and I do not get it to work 100%.

I detect message and send keys, but when I try to send <ctrl><left arrow> for instance I only get <left arrow>

This is what I type: KeyboardMap="^{LEFT}"

I have tried a number of things, like: KeyboardMap="^({LEFT})", but no success. I have also tried with and without AppCaptionSendEventTo="iTunes" and AppForceForeGroundOnEvent=true

Obviously I decode IBus correct or nothing at all would happen.

I'll try to test and fix it. Coz i don't test algorithm that i wrote for processing Visual Basic keyboard commands. (I write in Delphi).
But if u don't mind a little later friend.
