I work with sw and hardware, but embedded and not so much PC.
I am fairly comfortable with C# in visual studio.

Do you think DCOM is the way to go, or should I create a number of virtual ports? Then I guess there are already tools for doing so, like hub4com etc.

If you think DCOM is the way to go, I would really apreciate some general pointers on how to create such a server (service?) application.

If you can send IBUS messages by your software = NO Problem - install any Virtual COM Port multiplier and that the way.
But if you want to send IBUS messages via my service - we need to think deeper.
It's my opinion.

Ok, virtual port is the route I will take then.
And then I could connect your service to a virtual port in the same way as well!

You can find and download a IBUSCOMM, here on mp3car.com this program is from which i've copied IBUSServiceRR and IBUSCOMM is with full source code on VB.
