Are you trying to hook up a 16x2 character display to the serial port?

That small of a display is not much good for anything other than basic status info.

it is a usb version that now runs with LCD smartie.

this display is sitting in an orginal ford mustang radio from 1967, and I made the buttons also work with the joystick Plugin.

there is sitting a 7 inch touchscreen in the dashboard of the mustang but it is more located on the pasanger side so when I drive I can not control all the functions, thats why I can control a lot from the orginal radio.
