Check the Xvid Codec. It is open source and absolutely free. I prefer Xvid over Divx anyways, as it seems to do even better compression, and maintains very high quality video at the same time.

It is the Codec I use when I rip my DVD's to the computer, and usually a 1 1/2 hour DVD comes out to around 650 Megs, at very decent resolution and quality.

I really like what you've done so far, but I do have one request. I'd like to mount my camera hanging from my roll cage. Any way you can add a way to rotate the picture 180 deg? Thanks.

I actually planned on using XVID for distribution with it, or at least mentioninig it, as it is more lightweight than DIVX. I use it to rencode videos for my pocket pc. Can get a DVD length movie down to 200 megs for a handheld =] I just cant get to the website through this damn govt firewall.

You mean flip it for when the camera is upside down? Sure, i'll go add that to RRCam 1.2, which is in the works now. If yoou havent already, make sure you're using the latest RRCam, version 1.1 , in the other thread in this forum =]

Yeah, exactly. It's a lot easier to just have the camera upside down than machine a big complex mount..... And I am using 1.1. When are you going to integrate the dualcam and rrcam into one? I'm really looking forward to improvements to dualcam.... Thanks.

Well, basically, ran in to an issue selecting the camera inputs in code. Yea, windows has a lil dialog window that pops up and you can pick which of the cameras to use, but who wants to do that each time? Once i can find a way to pick the camera in code, it should be pretty smooth sailing. Until then, RRCam will be single camera only

Like what you have done so far - just a request/query - it works via usb but not via my firewire port - can this be looked at? Movie maker sees the camera through when its connected to the firewire port so its not a connection problem. Thanks.....
