I'm looking around online right now to see if there's a way for RRCam to detect when anything is closing it, and to stop and close the video file before it closes. Pretty sure there is, I just need to test it =]

Okay, edited the program a bit to help keep it from making corrupt video files, though if RoadRunner closes any other way than by the exit button being pressed they might still end up corrupt... Also a few minor changes to the readme and changes files

Nice, now it works, the files closes when RR is beeing closed. Now i will look for a good codec that works fine with higher framerates.

It's not really the codec, though a faster one might help. Its more an issue of how fast can the computer grab a single frame of video, overlay the text, display it, and save it to a video file.. Though saving to an uncompressed AVI file might be faster, but I don't know for sure. I'll run some tests =] Even then, though, uncompressed AVI files are HUGE. like 8 megabytes per second.. I think setting codec to IRAW will make it save uncompressed. If RRCam throws you an error about that codec then it isnt installed though..

Glad that last lil update fixed you're problem =] I'm already working on 1.2 which has a few more options, as well as a companion RRCam Config.exe to make dealing with the .ini file a LOT easier. It's even designed to be touchscreen friendly =] About halfway done with that. Also realised I left out the 'Mirror' button in the skin :x oops! It will be back in 1.2 I promise =]

strange thing is the CPU is not used at all, about 10% load (same for HDD and MEM usage)

    Heya,

This looks to be just what i was looking for - im totally new to Roadrunner , Car PC's and everything else in this realm, so please excuse my ignorance.
I have read the thread on skins (downloaded the html file) and i have tried a load of different things and cant get them working.

I have the cam working on its own when i run the app, but when i edit the menu.skin file from this :

    B15,10,530,156,70,"SKIN","Appearance"

    to

    B15,10,530,156,70,"RRCam","LOAD;RRCam.skin;RRCam;$ skinpath$RRCam\RRCam.exe;RRCam.exe"

Nothing happens - i have followed the structure for the files so im not sure what else i need to do now ?

    I have even tried
    B15,10,530,156,70,"RRCam","LOAD;RRCam.skin;RRCam;C :\Program Files\Road Runner\skins\BMV2\RRCam\RRCam.exe;RRCam.exe"

just in case , but im at a bit of a loss now ... have u got a dummies guide on how to get this working ? (you can see im using the BMV2 skin)

    Should do it.

or you could add this to Exectbl.ini

    "RRCam","LOAD;RRCam.skin;RRCam;C:\Program Files\Road Runner\skins\BMV2\RRCam\RRCam.exe;RRCam"

    and have your button

    B15,10,530,156,70,"RRCam",""

This assuming you have put the RRcam program in the brushed Metal skin folder

Just want to clarify, $RRCam wont do anything by default, i think you meant for there to be a \RRCam instead.

Also, Enforcer, do you use RRCam? Just wondering since you hosted the first version for me but I haven't heard any comments on it from ya.

I never can remember whether $skinpath$ adds the "\" on the end or not.

I haven't got around to trying it yet, as I changed my PC's over a few months ago and haven't got around to putting the camera back on.

    Looks good though.
