So, I really want to learn how to write scripts...

...but have no idea which language to use and how to use it interface with RR.

I tried to do a few searches, but not really sure about what I should be searching for.

Can someone please point me in the right direction?

    Thanks!

I'll second the nomination for AutoIt. Its a free scripting engine, and compiles nicely to stand alone EXE's, so the user does not in any way have to have AUtoIt installed on their system.

The help file also includes example scripts for just about every command, that you can open from right inside the help file, alter edit them ect to see how it works and so on.

So I've got some of the basics down, but I can't quite figure out how to pass variables from RR to autoIT.

Here's what I've got after searching:
    Code:
    $rr = ObjCreate("RoadRunner.sdk")
    $test = $rr.getinfo("skinpath")
    MsgBox(4096, "Result", $test)

    .
I used "listtext" and that worked, provided there was a PL, DL, or CL present, so I know that the above commands are communicating w/ RR.

    Your help is appreciated.

    TIA!

make sure you have skinpath defined and that should work.

to read var in autoit just use like this

    Code:
    $rr = ObjCreate("RoadRunner.sdk")
    $test = $rr.getinfo("=$skinpath$")
    MsgBox(4096, "Result", $test)

I hope you can also help me with a probem. I can pull infos from RoadRunner without problems.

    1. I now want to execute a command, but it doesn't work. I tried this:

    sdk.execute "SETVARBYCODE;ACTUALSONG;TRACKNAME"

    But I get an error:
    sdk^ERROR
Error: Missing separator character after keyword.

    So, what's wrong ?

    2.
Also I want to execute the command SKIPTO with an AutoIt variable (containing the letter to which I want RR to jump).
    "SKIPTO;$letter"
How do I do that in RoadRunner ? Of course, I couldn't try because of my problem with executing commands in RR.

    Try

    1.
    $rr = ObjCreate("RoadRunner.sdk")

    $rr.execute("SETVARBYCODE;ACTUALSONG;TRACKNAME")

    2.
    $rr.execute("SKIPTO;" & $letter)

    I think that should work.
