    By the way, have you tried it in your car yet?

    I am curious to know its behavior in a gas car.

    Hi,

    Due to customer reports we have been made aware of this "problem", but since we do not use any sort of CapPC/RoadRunner combination ourselves we are unable to give you a solution for this. Nevertheless we'd like to work with you on a fix for this problem.

    Small side note, we had not changed the file names for like 7 years, the changes in the directory structure (i.e. from \Program Files\ to \Ross-Tech) were necessary due to some Microsoft/Vista compatibility issues and were already introduced in Release 704. The most recent change in the file names was necessary based on trademark issues as described here. We don't do that just for fun.

    Back to topic though, as said if we can be of assistance let us know what details you need or where you think sth. is going wrong.

    I'll try it out on my work laptop. Need to load all of the software on it. I'll let you know how it works.

    If not we just need to change what fields it pulls. I can tell you which one need to be changed, and where, you just need to figure out what to change them to etc.

    I tried it but it didn't work. It did show that it opened the engine module but nothing showed in the Road Runner skin. All blanks.

    I would bet money that it's pulling in the wrong blocks for a gas car.

    We can make this work for your car, but I honestly don't have the time to do all of the coding. if you are willing to do most of it, I can explain it over the phone while you look at it.

    It's relatively simple, I just don't have the time to chug through the code.

    I don't have all the tools to edit and compile the code, but I appreciate the offer. I'm mainly a Mac guy. Even if I took a look through the code, I wouldn't be able to recompile it. And, not being C# savvy, I might not be able to get it to work anyhow.

    You would. I use mac as well, parallels and visual studio

    It's actually really simple code, you don't really need to know c#. I can't work on it because I don't have a gas car to test my code on and my vag-cable is embedded in my dash so I can't use my girlfriend's car.

    Theresias: I had attempted to reply to you on vwvortex, but for some reason I haven't been able to log into my account.

    I had attempted to work with you guys in the past on this, but there are some thing that would really help me out.

    The first is if you have some sort of test software that replicates a gas vehicle. The problem I am having now is that this only supports tdi's due to the measuring blocks I pull, and I can't develop for the gas equivalent because I don't have a gas car, and my vag-cable is embedded in my tdi, making it so I can't really test any software I create. If you guys have some sort of software that you use for development that you could let me use that would be very helpful.

    Next, I brought this up in the ross-tech forumns a while ago and was shot down, if you guys could create an executeable that loads straight to measuring blocks it would be extremely helpful. Ideally, an executable that took in as arguments the blocks to be read, and then either loaded the measuring blocks window or provided some sort of interop for me to pull the values would work very very well. Currently I have to automate the startup vag-com to get to the meas. buttons window, which is very slow.

    also, for now. if you guys could host a version of 704 for download, or give me permission to host it, that would be very helpful.

    At the present time there is no demo mode or similar which would make you able to reproduce certain values from control modules. Coming up with something like that isn't easy which is why we have not taken much effort in that direction in the past. One thing which is on our todo-list is a plugin API which should make your job much easier in future, but that hasn't gotten anywhere further either yet as we are really busy with keeping up with the latest VW/Audi models and specifically adding support for them.

    Can't really say why or how you got "shot down" but we are only a very small company and really busy with the day to day operation as well as the already mentioned development just to keep up with new models and functions. In terms of data on what you see there shouldn't be much difference when it comes to VC-Scope and gasser or diesel it's just different block numbers if this is what you mean.

    We do work with ECUs on a test stand, all you need for that is like a 12V battery or power supply, some wiring and an actual control module. This is pretty close to what we use for in-house testing as well.

    I am still scratching my head about what sort of data you are looking for or specifically need here, would you mind elaborating that?

    Regarding a 704 download, sorry but no. Due to software piracy issues we can't.
