You can turn off your amp before your carpc powers off so you don't get a "turn off" thump.
Since you can control a 12 volt relay the possibilities are endless, extra fog lights, neon lights, laser jammer, radar detector, whatever.
So this is like a Fusion Brain then? What are the disadvantages or just using this instead? How hard would it be to use this for operating things in my home?

I am planning on usinf this ap to turn on a rear camera when the car goes in reverse. Also use the output to turn on fog lights, airshock compressor, or ground effect lighting. With this I think you can make any button currently in you're dash a button in RR.
How could you get RR to react to the indicator state change?
I would like to use this to detect when my acc goes low.
I suggested this feature awhile back.. not sure if it got implemented.. if not, you'd have to implement a timer to detect it..

Thank you for you response Guino. That's what I thought.]

hey guys
I was really happy to find this script as I need something to control my power antenna.
I knocked up a circuit using a prolific PL2303X USB serial port controller and a couple of output fets. Unfortunately during testing I have found this setup is no good as the DTR and RTS lines sit at 0V for a while when the PC boots and then idle high once the drivers are loaded. I cant see that there is any way to get around this so unfortunately the plugin is useless with this serial port controller.
I originally had trouble with the DTR and RTS lines being toggled during bootup. Found some excellent info here to solve that. Scroll down to the heading "Disabling Windows XP Detection of Devices on Serial Ports (serenum)'
http://dast.freeshell.org/
Looks like I will need to knock up something a bit more complicated. Probably a micro on the end of a USB serial port. Unfortunately this also means writing a plugin for RR..
