    i could create a seperate skin that could load like this:

    load;external_gps.skin;!Sygic DRIVE;C:\DRIVE_XP\drive.exe |-no-safety -r800x550;!Sygic DRIVE||ACTIVATE;Sygic DRIVE"

    but whenever "GPS" is called it will load whatever ive set in the RR.ini

    Ok, this may not work and may seem mad but here goes.

    in Exectbl.ini

    "GPS","$newGPS$"

    in your skins skin.ini

    newGPS=<path to a GPS>

    the have the button code in your GPS menu skin change the variable newGPS to the path of the respective GPS program

    do one for each GPS you may wish to use.

    Not necessarily.

    You can use that menu to bring up other gps apps, but you'll have to create custom buttons for it:

    "LOAD;EXTERNAL_GPS.skin||RUN;<gpsapp1path&name>;<g psapp1windowname>"
    "LOAD;EXTERNAL_GPS.skin||RUN;<gpsapp2path&name>;<g psapp2windowname>"

    I've tried it. It works.

    Cheers guys. so if set the gpsmode=3 in RR.ini

    Then create a custom skin called GPS_MENU.skin with individual buttons like this (ignore the other buttons :

    if i code the sygic drive button with something like this:
    "LOAD;EXTERNAL_GPS.skin||RUN;!Sygic DRIVE;C:\DRIVE_XP\drive.exe |-no-safety -r800x550;!Sygic DRIVE||ACTIVATE;Sygic DRIVE" this will load sygic drive

    So when i call the "GPS" command again, will it just carry on using sygic until i close it or restart road runner?

    Cheers

    No. gpsmode=3 will ALWAYS bring up the GPS_MENU.skin.

    If you want it to behave the way you described above, you'll need to set a series of filters using SETVAR & BYVAR and add commands to your "GPS" button.

    I thought that was the idea of calling the gps_menu.skin (like the one in the picture) with the code you suggested

    No.

    gpsmode=3 will bring up GPS_MENU.skin every time you click "GPS" button.

    The other button codes are for "calling" other GPS apps not native to RR (i.e. MappPoint, Destinator)

    If you want a function like you described above for calling GPS functions:
    So when i call the "GPS" command again, will it just carry on using sygic until i close it or restart road runner?
    You'll have to do something like this:
    ExecTBL.ini:
    Code:
    "GPS","BYVAR;gpsselect;MENU;GPS_MENU.skin<<GPSAPP1<<GPSAPP2<<GPSAPP3<<GPSAPP4<<GPSAPP5"
    "GPSAPP1","<load gps app 1 command line>"
    "GPSAPP2","<load gps app 2 command line>"
    "GPSAPP3","<load gps app 3 command line>"
    "GPSAPP4","<load gps app 4 command line>"
    "GPSAPP5","<load gps app 5 command line>"
    In GPS_MENU.skin:
    Code:
    BX1,...,"SETVAR;gpsselect;1||GPSAPP1"
    BX2,...,"SETVAR;gpsselect;2||GPSAPP2"
    BX3,...,"SETVAR;gpsselect;3||GPSAPP3"
    BX4,...,"SETVAR;gpsselect;4||GPSAPP4"
    BX5,...,"SETVAR;gpsselect;5||GPSAPP5"
    The code above will keep using a select app until you restart rr. Restarting will re-initialize gpsselect=0 at startup bringing up the menu for you to select again.

    Thanks Sal.

    Using that example when "GPS" is called the varibale will be set for as long as RR is running. Eg skin calls "GPS" you pick the application, then when "GPS" is called again it will continue to use the one i already selected (Dont want to have to pick the app everytime i switch screens back to the GPS sceen"

    In theory, yes.

    I haven't tested the code as I put that together when replying...
