I have the full version of Bluesoleil (version 6.2) now. I'm able to make a serial port connection, send and receive contacts, but I still cannot view my cell's phonebook (BS says "the operation is not supported").

When I go into Bluetooth Places > LG Dare, I see Bluetooth Dial-Up Netoworking, Bluetooth File Transfer, Bluetooth Messages, Bluetooth Object Push, Bluetooth Phonebook, and Bluetooth Serial Port (COM8).

DUN seems to work, though I didn't go beyond the setup (VZW charges a lot for tethering).
BT File Transfer seems to work, I'm able to view the files on my phone.
BT Messages doesn't work ("The operation is not supported").
Object Push seems to work. My phone says "check number or email," while Bluesoleil says "My business card was sent to LG Dare."
Phonebook doesn't work ("The operation is not supported").
Serial Port seems to work, I'm able to get and maintain a strong connection.

From my phone, I clicked on "brows files," and was able to see my desktop's root directory (though it was "empty").

Once again, this was on a Verizon Wireless LG Dare.

I really don't think LG has any backup software.. Verizon takes care of that through a certain program in Get It Now. They charge $3/mo for the service.

For what it's worth, I had to sell my LG phone so that I could use various features on my CC9060 bluetooth install. It's due to LG's only using bluetooth v1.3 (I think) where as Sony Ericssons use v2+.

The LG Dare? Nope. Just good ol' crippled Verizon firmware.

The cable is no problem, my phone uses a standard USB cable for charging and data. I can use bitpim to back up my phone, etc etc. But my main thing is to get this bluetooth stuff working on here so I can put it in my car. There are times when I need to talk to someone, or someone calls me, while I'm driving and I either have to pull over or miss the call (I REFUSE to pick up my phone when I'm driving, the ticket is between $150-$200 here in NY).

    get windows tinted ;-)
so then if USB works then BT should work too the only wuestion is to finf how your "bitpim" requests the data. on all most of the phones data is exchanges via AT commands due to simple reason - cost of development is low. the only exeptions are iPhone, BlackBerry and Windows Mobiles .. thos need special modules
