I just tried this as a test, and the above is correct. I placed a single artist folder on my C:\ Drive and it created the songs.ini correctly. So the plugin seems to only accept music located on the system drive.

I can say "Load Abba" and the playlist screen loads, but then I can not play any of the songs.

I tried:
Play Abba One of us
Play one of us
load abba one of us
load one of us


and about 10 other spoken variations.

Okay so I figured this out for myself. In the RRVoiceControl.ini I changed the currentvolume to CurrentVolume=SETVAR in the paths section and I now can say Windows Open and it will set up my GPS volume settings for that, also works for Windows Closed.

My next step is to get the pc to open the windows and sunroof for me.

Okay I figured this out too. I deleted the music and songs .ini files and replace the VoiceControl.exe from the original zip. Lo and behold it found all the songs on the D drive.

My music files are on my D:\... I didnt have a problem.. so who knows.

Let me try and work thru this.
First of all, Thanks for trying this. Although I have no formal training, self taught, I spent some time on this trying to get it right.

Second, It is not a plugin. It is a standalone exe. It was not meant to go into RR's plugin folder. It should be able to run from anywhere though.
Documents and Settings/RRVoiceControl would maybe be good for newer OP systems?
I happen to have it in C:\Program Files\RRVoiceControl.
I'm thinking maybe permissions? RR should not be running during Music search?

Third, I need some info from all of you guys.

It starts it's music search from wherever the initial path is set in the ini, and parses through the folders from there, looking for *.mp3 and *.WMA files only. My music path is C:\media\Music, with nothing but mp3's and WMA files under that. It ignores all other files. Example: C:\media\Music\ACDC or C:\media\Music\Guns And Roses or C:\media\Music\Various\Billboard Greatest Christmas Hits. It picks everything up.
John, Try moving it back up to C:\Program Files\RRVoiceControl

For others that are testing this, when you click the VR Off in the menu to speak to the system, move your mouse off of that area after you click it.
If you do not move the mouse, it will continue to listen causing it to appear hung up.

It does not do this for me, I can leave the curser on it. Hmmm...
Do you have the external trigger checked on the Settings form?
If not it listens continously.

Does this plugin actually communicate with RR aside from the send messages?

Again, It is not a plugin. It does communicate some, volume, and future skin stuff, but you only have to do the music path once, How hard is that?

Did you click the VR button again? Remember it turns off after every command.
The command should be Play One Of US as shown in the command textbox on the RRVoiceControl form. What does it show when you have Abba loaded? I enable VR, I can say Load Eagles, it loads all songs from the eagles album. I enable VR again and then I can say Play Victim Of Love, and it starts playing. It changes to Audio screen first cause not all screens have a playlist on them. DefaultPlayMusicCommand=Audio||LOADLIST;$MUSICPATH$

drewbp, I am not ready to support exotic stuff like that just yet.
It still reads all the ini file, scroll over in the textbox to see all that code in setup. I will try to work on the unique stuff later.

Study the ini files, you will see what I am trying to accomplish and you will see how configurable this is for any skin. Heck you could probably use this and RideRunner with just a hidden playlist skin only! But that wouldn't be any fun.

Give me all the info you guys can, keep playing with the app. It works very well on my system. I do plan on supporting this.

A little update, I went and looked at my Music search module and I noticed that I had enabled WMA file searching some time ago.
So it will Voice Command your WMA files also! WooHoo!

To correctly code a proper app for future OS's and really the current one's.(XP), the program is NOT supposed to write anything to the programs folder period. This is Y the M$ made a Application Data folder under the user profile path to hold such data.

Yes I have to click the "Off" in the menu bar to speak to it. On that note, is there a way to turn it off once it starts listening? The ideal answer would be to press and hold a key, button ect, and speak, once done release the button and the VR turns off. Right now it will constantly stay on till it hears something it understands.

I think it comes down to a path problem... Mine shows "Play ABBA -One Of US" as the voice command in the list. Here is a section from the songs.ini

Lastly, if I try to scan my full MP3 Folder, it errors out with an overflow. This is more than likely due to the fact I have 34,200 MP3's in my collection. The cariable in VB6 would have to be dimmed with LONG or something like that... hahah I know I had the problem with RRMedia till he dim'd the variables in a different way.

Would be nice if here was like an RR extention plugin to go with this that would handle all of the "native" stuff that this would need to work out of the box, ie... using the user's RR music path, audio file types...ect and any other data that it could be used w/o having to have settings that are really aready defined in/by rr's config.
