Personally, I just can't see why you would want Vista or Win 7 on a CarPC. Too much bloat for that. Heck I still run Win2K on everything, including all the dot net up to 3.5, Home Automation, Development, ect...
Anyways, a new beta of RRVoiceControl is out to some testers.
There is a new RR command that has yet to be released, that helps RRVoiceControl. It will be in the next release of RR, and barring any issues I will release the RRVoiceControl update then...
SAPI, MIC question. I realize this is for RRvoice, but I am really trying to make it to that stage! I downloaded SAPI 5.1 SDK and installed. I plugged in my microphone to the Creative 5.1 (PCI) Card I have. To this day I havent used the mic on it yet. I am using the KX Audio drivers and am having no luck understanding what I am supposed to be doing here. Do I have to configure SAPI? Do I have to "learn it" to me? I cant get SAPI to recognize anything I say, which leads me to believe my mic is setup improperly. I umute my mic and I can hear myself talking, the output goes through my car speakers. I would imagine that when using a BT Phone or RRvoice you would not want to hear yourself talking. What do I have to do with SAPI to move onto installing the plugin?
Do you have the Speech Control Panel applet in Control Panel.
If you do, Open it and choose the OTHER Tab and Click the HELP Button.
As I said in the first post, I don't have time to troubleshoot Speech/VR issues.
LMAO, Win7 is nothing more than a rehashed Vista build. Read the posts all over the net. It only took them 12 months and 1 beta round to put it out to save face over Vista. You can pay Micro$oft more money or you can learn how to use the op sys on the box you have. There is no reason to upgrade for me, My win2k box has been running flat out for 5 years with no issues and no reinstalls and I do more than most with what I have now.win7 is fantastic for carpc's. the audio stack (which was born in vista), the touchscreen capabilities, and networking alone are worth it- all things that make using a computer MUCH easier then it used to be. too many other reasons to list, but XP is like DOS these days... windows 7 is so much more advanced its sort of funny to me that people still want to keep xp. i dont even run it on my older rigs anymore, i would have to have like a 1ghz / 1gb system to want to run that os... but i realize some people still do (atom processors and such) so for them xp still has its place i guess.
.When I went to download SAPI SDK from MS there were 5 or 6 files so I have been trying to figure what exactly needs to be installed and what I dont need
That was not in the questions you asked, and you did not provide any details on your version of windows.
The file you are looking for on Micro$ofts site is: speechsdk51.exe
I just got a chance to start working with the beta today. It is working really good for transitioning menu's, playing disks and such.
I do have one problem, I can not seem to get around though..... I have no voice commands for artists. Under artists in the Music.ini, they are all album titles, and not artists:
MusicCmdStatus=You Have 34252 Voice Command Songs!
Load Stiff Upper Lip=K:\MP3\ACDC\Stiff Upper Lip
Load The Razors Edge=K:\MP3\ACDC\The Razors Edge
Load Anomaly=K:\MP3\Ace Frehley\Anomaly
Load Ruthless=K:\MP3\Ace Hood\Ruthless
Load The Bridge=K:\MP3\Ace of Base\The Bridge
Load The Sign=K:\MP3\Ace of Base\The Sign
Load A Little South Of Sanity=K:\MP3\Aerosmith\A Little South Of Sanity
Load Big Ones=K:\MP3\Loverboy\Big Ones
I can't say for instance, "Load Ace of Base", I have to know the album name and say that instead. For instance, "Load The Sign" does work perfectly.
I have my folders structured as around 90% of other people, with the Root MP3 Folder, then artist folders in there, and in each artist folder, I have folders for each album by that artist.
