This is absolutely positively needed for plugins to feel like a real part of RR. The way CF handles it and lets you manage ALL the config settings from a central location is the way to go
I was wondering if it is possible to have the config part of a plugin be called though the plugin manager. For example we can see the plugins in the plugin manager and we can see some details but I think it would be nice if we could allow a user to call the plugin config app from this location rather than having to go and find a short cut or something. I for one only have config in the installer but can see the benifits of only allowing config through an app rather than direct access to the config file (whatever and where ever it is)

Well I have started to add settings screens to all my plugins.
And have called them <pluginname>_settings.
I have in my recently released iDrive skins a button to the plugin manager screen which takes the highlighted plugin and calls the <pluginname>_settings.skin (the skin plugin checks the files exists first)
So far this works with my RRUpd8, RRGrid and El Caminos RRWifiMan.
It would be nice if every plugin creator added and <pluginname>_settings.skin to their plugins.
Maybe we could set a standard here, but I know how trying to set standards works with RR.![]()
problem is is exactly what E is saying, Standards...
If we set the standards, id get more *****ing, then following...![]()

i dont even see why it should be up to the plugin guys to take more skinning time to design a settings screen. Take the CF approach, let the skinners create a default settings "skin" and let RR (or even an RR plugin.. whatever) populate the data on that screen. If everyone used the same settings format (.ini file, pluginname_settings.ini, root plugin folder) then setting and controlling ALL active plugins settings could be done in ONE settings.skin.
Come to think of it.. that sounds like an idea that could potentially win a plugin competition that just happen to begin next week!

Look at the settings screens I have done for iDrive and Carwings for my plugins.
The graphics are based loosely on the CF idea
