Therefore the (%2) would have caused that segment not to be recognised.
I take it the brackets part is important.

I put the brackets so that I can see the data in my gps program when I do a search for a poi, so I know that I'm choosing the POI for the correct city (many locations have the same name, just diff city).

Ok - changed the name column to just %1 and that worked fine

I'll make a change to the way I substitute the data in the text string to accommodate that.
New version.
This version will handle the custom string with brackets or whatever characters are stuck in.
The % variables will be replaced with their correct counterparts.
Have added an extra ini setting
autoclear=true - Whether to clear the 'locked' info after successfully saving to file
up to 9 custom inputs %1-%9.
End slash on path checked for.
Now comes as an installer.
This is still an alpha.
Beta and full versions will have the settings done in RR, instead of having to edit ini files, as per my other recently released plugins.
Next version.
Will have extra GPS based information (whtever RR can send) as preset fields.
If there is an internet connection will try and get street info.

Seeing as the OP has now ditched RR and gone back to CF without the grace to let me know I will take my plugin and expand upon it.
