Integrated voice control in RR...

whodwho, sorry for my insistence, but have I any chance to work with another engine (not english lang sapi)? Thanks so much. My speech now is better.

Edit: I have found a speech SDK from Philips, 60 days demo. I´m sure it will not work for this app but I will try it. http://www.speechrecognition.philips...dex.asp?id=754

Hi whodwho,

Sorry, it's been insane here at work, so I haven't had a change to play with my carputer for a while. Anyway, I was playing with the latest build you sent me. With my carputer (a laptop) out of the car plugged in with a normal microphone, the program works great. However, when I put it in the docking station in my car and use the hotkey with my iBus control and use a USB Microphone... the system doesn't work at all. Sorry, I haven't had a chance to really get into it, but when I use my iBus connection to pass the F10 key it turns the mic off and on.

I'll try to get some more details this afternoon.

Does the F10 still work?

[edit] I just re-read it, so it turns the mic on/off but does not respond? Does the title change to listening for command?

Just an idea,

A voice command that will say all the important commands, kind of like a help file for those of us that forget them at times.

Computer?

Yes?

Help, I forgot all the things you can do

Computer says:

Well, I can

Exit
Maximize
Minimize
Weather
See you later
Enter
Date
Time

I think this would also help us to "pronounce" what the computer is expecting to be said.

A common way I see some handle this is to pop a window that lists the commands, do you think a visual or audio display? I guess it could be a visual and it be listing them by audio...

IMO video would be best, In a large text format and if it dont fit on one page have a next button. Or even categorize them like BASIC, VIDEO, MUSIC...

I would like to hear the list of possible commands read out. Anything to help me keep my eyes on the road... Not sure if this would really help with pronunciation because sapi has been trained to understand your own voice, but it will allow you to be confident of the word(s) you should say!

If it's possible perhaps a context based approach would be good. For example if you are on the audio skin list the audio commands.
Otherwise maybe a menu appoach as Rosebud6 suggested, like MS Voice Command on the Pocket PC.

With the RR update, my computer is silent, hope the .dll version comes soon or you recompile the new version.

I like the speech so much I will probably revert back to the older version of RR.

I would like to see the list of commands not be audio. 1st off, it would take a month of Sundays for microsoft mike to spit out that whole list of commands!!! 2nd, if the computer accidentally interprets something you've said as "give me the commands" or whatever, you'll have to sit through the whole speech even though you werent' asking for help. If you wanna see the list of commands, I'd say just pull over and look.
