    My site is hosted on .Mac so it may have been down for maintenance or something, I'm pretty sure I haven't exceeded the bandwidth. My PC installation has changed quite a bit from what's there, actually, but I haven't had the time to update the site.

    Joe,

    Is there any way that IBUScomm could be migrated to the Mac, using RealBASIC or some other means?

    I found an app called PortTerm which basically does all the functions of iBusComm. The developer is very responsive, and i think its worth the $10.

    Its not meant to be iBusComm, but a more generic serial data reader. It is nice because you can have the app run applescript when it reads certain iBus commands....thats basically how i used it.

    Hi,

    Very interesting thread!!

    I have build a CarpC with a switch box to convert the VGA to the OEM Navi screen in front. When I set the RTS bit on the iBus serial interface, I can switch from CarPC to the standard screen in front.

    How can I setup in the ibuscomm.ini to use one of knobs of the original OEM Navi to pull this RTS up or down? And so easy switching from the OEM Navi screen to the CarpC screen.

    It would be great I someody could tell me this!

    Regards,

    Jan-Peter

    first off, welcome to the forums.
    which VGA conversion box are you using? I had purchased one from a group in germany, but had a hard time getting my PC to output the correct frequency.

    the way that ibuscomm.ini works is that it reads the ibus commands coming out of your car and translates them to keystrokes. so i guess what you will need is a shortcut key that your computer listens for and sends the RTS when it hears it...

    not sure what the easiest way to implement this with ibuscomm is, since i moved to a mac install a year ago.

    I'm using this VGA concersion box;
    http://www.shop.ac-services.eu/produ...nfo/p137_.html

    Thisis actually a IBUS reader to RS232 (or USB), and VGA to NTSC convertor. With a remote control you can adjust the video screen for the best performance. Works great!

    At the moment I use this with CarX as front end. However the software is not supported anymore.

    In the ini file I see an option what pulls the RTS line high/low. This is written in the ini file;
    ; Switched Line
    ;
    ; The switched line can be used to activate a relay to switch on for example, the
    ; video line to the PC and the Navigation computer.
    ;
    ; 0 : No switched line used
    ; 1 : RTS line used
    ; 2 : DTR line used
    ;
    ; A ProcessEvent=Enable will set the line to HIGH.
    ; A ProcessEvent=Disable will set the line to LOW.
    ; Status is LOW by default.
    ;
    SwitchedLine=1

    But I do NOT understand how I can select a certain keystroke to let Ibuscomm switch the RTS line.

    Probably the problem is I'm a Harware guy . But if somebody could explain me somthing how Ibuscomm works and what I have to change in the ini, I will manage to get it working. It can't be soo difficult...

    This is what im looking for by the look of it,this version 1.89 (of many adapted ibuscomm) released by Darth/Sama has the keyboard map & road runner commands, while all the others only have road runner support from the skincommands.

    I cant see anywhere in the ini config file support for the R/T and phone steering wheel buttons that the e46's have...

    Would this be a simple case of just pasting over the code from the other versions that have the capability this is the code from another ini file ive seen?

    Code:
    ;Steering Wheel PHONE Press
    [ID:STW_PHONE_PRES]
    MsgTemplate="5004C83B8027"
    KeyboardMap="MUTE"

    ;Steering Wheel - Press
    [ID:STW_RT_PRES]
    MsgTemplate="5003C8019A"
    KeyboardMap="PLAY"

    Problem solved by merging bits from an ini that supports the buttons, now works awesome.

    Theres a version called IbusRR (search using the google option itl be there on 1st page of results) it can send commands like open windows, lock doors etc, you can just tweak the ini file with the ibus codes that you want to send...
