Theres a version called IbusRR (search using the google option itl be there on 1st page of results) it can send commands like open windows, lock doors etc, you can just tweak the ini file with the ibus codes that you want to send...

Thank you so much, however when i load the .exe nothing happens, i see the process is loaded in my task manager, is this program hidden and only takes commands from roadrunner? that seems to be what i gathered from the thread. i installed roadrunner and i get an error about skin not found when i load it, ive tried changing settings for skin to other skin foldfers and i stil get the same /alpine/ skin not found! when loading roadrunner. i really want to toy with sending ibus messages at my IKE and see what i can learn.

    TIA!
great forum, lots of great info here!

Download Road Runner from this link here http://www.w3bma5t3r.com/mirror/dopp...kage=Installer it comes with the defualt BMV skin, you need to install and run the RRConfig program, paying carefull attention to your settings relevant to your computer (resolution etc) one of the config screens will point to which skin to use. Use the default BMV (Brushed metal i believe) if its having problems loading the skin you need to browse the skin folder and make sure you point to the folder within the skin folder that has all the files inside (Main.skin etc)

The program loads hidden (it can be changed in the ini file) ive only ever used it with road runner, if you have a look @ the skins Enforcer makes (IDrive) this has support for the window controls, boot opening etc) If you can do basic programming with somehting like AutoIT you could use it independantly for sending code to the ibus

I appreciate the information, ill start looking at AutoIT. I am reinstalling roadrunner as well as downloading the Idrive skin to see if i can modify it to send whatever ibus commands i want, i am trying to test out some commands using my laptop connected to the ibus in my 323i e46. Thank you very much for the help. will keep updates in this thread.

Also - has anyone compiled a list of the light functions for the e46 (how to turn on certain lights, flash them, etc that i hear people talk about in various threads but no real ibus codes surface and from what i can gather they were avail in the hacktheibus group but that has since died.

Check enforcers signature he has a link to his website, hes collating all the codes for the ibus since the website closed, wish i saved the page to my hard drive before it got closed. You may be interested in knowing http://www.mp3car.com/vbulletin/soft...y-cluster.html this guy has got the low cluster working (the one that displays temperature, mpg etc) so it can send speed camera alerts by blinking hazards, making the car beep, and displaying the speed camera info on the cluster using GatsoHunterRR.

Keep us updated on your results/progress

Anyone experience problems after hibernation ie: have to close/restart ibuscomm?

do these lines influence anything, never had the problem when I was using IbusRR

    Code:
; Time for shutdown in minutes
; This will trig the Shutdown event.
    IBusIdleTime=100
    Anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks, i have seen that thread thats what brought me to mp3car.com!

I have autoit, im not sure what i need to send to IBusRR as its fkin hidden. i made an autoit script with the following

    SendKeepActive("IBusRR","OPEN_TRUNK")
    Send("OPEN_TRUNK")
    Sleep(1000)

    msgbox(0,"script","done")

Doesnt do a damn thing, but does say DONE, and no trunk opens on my car..
not sure how IbusRR works, how do we send a command to IBUSRR without using road runner, like what channel do we have to shoot OPEN_TRUNK to ge tit to IBUSRR..

RoadRunner just uses a com hook to communicate to another program.

    I have two suggestions.

    1. download the roadRunner source and have a look at the SDK Examples (there is one for autoit) and substitute iBusRR for RoadRunner.

or (and this might be easier to start with)

    2. Download RRCAM 2.0. Inside there is a folder called helper apps and inside that a prgram called com tool.exe, run this select other and put iBusRR as the window title and then try sending the messages that are in IBusRR.ini to control what you want. This should at least check you can control the different parts, then try 1. and write your own code.

You need to verify theat the numerical data that is assigned to each button function in the iBusRR.ini is the correct one for your vehicle.

Run IBUSAnalyser and then press the buttons (ie the physical ones in the car)that make the functions happen. Make a note of what commands are picked up by the analyser and check they are the same in the iBusRR.ini.

if they are then you need to try and run the iBusAnlyser and iBusRR at the same time (don't know if this is possible) to see if iBusRR is sending the data.

    thanks for the followup,
Ibus analyser and ibusrr will not run at the same time, as there is a comport issue as they both try to open the port.
I was wondering if there was a way to use the source code in IbuscomM to make a simple way to input a string, and have it SEND the string to the ibus, theres a box for send to MID but the send to IBUS is grayed out.. is this code in the .bas file and functional or is it grayed out as it was never developed? if you guys can send to MID via ibuscomM why cant we just shoot any packet out on the ibus? I have not gotten my hands on vb6 and the express edition i have downloaded from MS creates a lot of issues when opening the source code, so i am currently trying to get vb6 to see the source..
thanks again for the help guys! youve also got me thinking about building a carpc stuff is CRAZY! amazing what can be implemented into a car these days!
