Maybe like this, but flipped so that left is on the right side, and accel is on the bottom. That way when you turn left, the pointer moves to the right (like all the stuff in your trunk) and if you brake hard the pointer goes to the top (again, like the stuff in your trunk...) if you are accelerating AND turning, the pointer will not be on the line.

no autoitscript shall be neccessary. I can read the label into a sprite which runs the formula once per second directly in the flash script. My only real question for your accellearation example is how would one determine the max value in the equation. I mean obviously different cars have vastly different rates of accelleration. Shall i just use a static MAX, user-definable max or what?

Ok, i have understanded how to pass informations from the flash gauge to a plugin in roadrunner.
but the update even one second is too slow for showing the speed, rpm, etc.

how can i make a gauge updating at least 4 or 5 times per second?

i'm trying to make working Dalailama's project... so please help me, his skin is really beautiful!!!

If you don't have the source, then save the image into photoshop, and make the different layers, then in flash, import the image in it's separate layers and animate it accordingly.

A definable value would be fantastic! For instance if you make the scale for a Corvette's capabilities, the indicator would barely move on the scale for anyone driving a Geo Metro This would allow the user to cater the gauge more to their car, so when they "floor it" the indicator will be very close to the top of the scale.

As for turning, if you were doing donuts in a parking lot, you would want it pegged to one side. What type of scale I really don't know on this one. Just that it needs to be based on how fast your heading is changing. if you are on a straight road going North East, it would stay centered. If you get to a gradual curve in that road, your heading gradually changes, thus the indicator would "sway" slightly to the direction of the turn. Basically just mimicking the force you feel when cornering.

I had something very simple in mind for the gauges. It should really just be the indicator. This way an image could easily be made to match what ever skin and style it is used in.

With it done like this, the gauges could be placed over an image of the top view of your car, over a fancy graphic gauge background or whatever anyone wants.

Making the indicator an external PNG would be even better! This way it gives the skinner complete control over the look of the background, as well as the indicator ball, needle, pointer ect.

Lastly, the number it is basing itself off of for the calculations needs to be a RR label. Meaning, for the acceleration / deceleration gauge, if you are accelerating at 8 MPH in a second, then "+8" needs to be placed in a label that can be used in the skin.

This is a very quick thrown together image, to show one example of what can be done. All that is needed is the SWF's to be overlaid over the top of the bars, so the indicators appear.

You need an elm obdII interface for enigne/PCM info though..............

I agree with john, someone driving a z06 will have a totally different gauge appearance than my N/A PT (read: slow a$$ car) if I floor it, it will be all the way to the limit of the gauge or close, and when the Vette driver floors it, the same will happen, but his limits are higher. There was a great diagram in the user manual for GT2, but I don't have that with me right now. I might photochop something later to show what I was thinking the gauge would look like.
