Thread: Flash Guages including source code

1. something to the effect of this:

in this example, the gauge is showing the car turning left at .5 G's, while braking at .25 G's (which is negative since you are slowing down.)

It needs a lot more work, this is a quick try at it...

what would be cool is have a max mode, so that the graph showed the max G's in either axis.

i actually have that almost exact image on my mixer screen to control fader/balance. This should be easy. I will make both the indicator method john suggested and your method.

3. Wow, that looks nice... I still feel that the gauge itself should be void of graphics. This can then be done in the image for the skin, and anyone can come up with what they want for the background of the gauge, making it totally customizable.

If anything, maybe have the background graphic, with the circle, cross hairs ect all an external .png that can be used. This way the png could be changed to the users liking, or an empty .png (all transparent) so the background would then be whatever the skin background is.

I think G's are going to be pretty tough to calculate. Taking the current speed, acceleration / deceleration, rate of turn ect. Then if the vehicle starts to slide you have to take into count that the lateral G's are going to decrease.... All of this would make for one very complex mathematical formula, as well as probably not being that accurate. For ease of coding, it may just be better to get the difference in heading over a given time and the difference in rate of speed over a given time.
From the Fusion Brain Website:

"a typical car [accelerating] is between 0.3G and 0.5G"

That is a really small scale to try to measure G's even remotely accurately given the 1 second update time and all the other factors.

Here is snippit from another website:
We just need to know the radius of the turns and the speed of the car. For example if the road has a turn, in a radius of 750 feet (229 meters), and you are traveling around 70 MPH
When the car goes around the turn, it accelerates the whole time (this is why, when you make a turn in your own car, you feel a force pulling your body toward the outside of the car). The amount of acceleration is equal to the velocity of the car squared divided by the radius of the turn:

A = v2 / r Let's run the numbers:
• 230 mph is 337 feet per second (f/s).
• (337 f/s)2 / 750 feet = approximately 151 f/s2.
• The acceleration due to gravity (1 G) is 32 f/s2.
• 151 / 32 = 4.74 Gs experienced by the drivers.

4. but there's still the problem that, with the updating of one time per second, is too slow for appreciating the movement of the indicator...

no solution for this?

5. Any luck with this Sonic?

6. Guys Hi
can u pls help me getting the gauges to work..
i am trying to get
CPU temp, HDD temp, Fan RPM, ( actually all d readings in SPeedfan.skin)
but can only get CPU useage to work,,,

Can you PS help me
thanx

Of course all the reading are working while in the speedfan skin.. ( means speed fan is installed )

7. By the way guys...
are the CPU temp, HDD temp gauges working...
I really am notable to get it thru...

Only 1 that is working is CPU Useage....

8. can u post the label codes your gauges are expecting in Flash?

9. Hey am so sorry BUT i DONT know what codes to write....
I just put the flash Files in the Speed fan.skin
and expected it to run as all other parameters are working...
I did NOT put any codes for the CPU use age as well...( but it works )
Can you pls help me

10. Some older flash files wait for RR to set the values to display -- Without knowing the labels
you'd have to look at the original .skin files (using the flash files) looking for the labels that are on the same screen so the flash files can receive those as well.
