So if you are having problems with the browser not working after scan, try scanning a smaller portion of your library and checking the RRmediaDb.db file and making sure that it is getting larger with every scan. If not, check that certain group of files for the issues stated above.
I, too, can confirm this works. I have over 8000 mp3s in my library and my initial builds failed.

Looks like something to do with cddbcontrol, probably like ccwild said: mising ID3Tag data.

So I did like he did: ran the database builder on one folder at a time till one worked, then began adding folders to the music path. But a funny thing happened. When I did get an error message it was different.

And as I clicked through it (26 times) it changed.

But it did finish. So just outta curiosity I ran it twice on the same set of files - strangely enough the same errors occurred but the second run said it updated more files to the DB. A third and forth run, said exactly the same thing: Records Updated: xxx

Another issue I noticed is if I delete the "Files Missing Tag Info.txt" file after the initial DB build, its never recreated - gone forever. After some experimentation, I realized this file is only created on the initial build. So if I add files, I'll never know the builder found issues in the ID3 tags.

Lastly, and I know why it is but noone seems to have mentioned it yet, running the builder after the initial build takes 10 times longer than the initial build. So all those folks spouting build times, I'd like to see a comparison of the initial versus subsequent update runs whether or not you've added new files.

Gizmo, I think it's something about the last com error you posted (LiteX.LiteStatement.1) that is causing the scan to take longer. I believe that after the error posts, the builder updates all files after that point, even if they have been scanned already. It has to be a certain file causing this because the error happens in the exact same place of the build everytime. I have yet to find the file or group of files causing this error, but I will post when I find it.

At least the scan completes now...

Uh, y are trying to use it as a stand alone? I haven't touched the GUI part of the builder in some time now as that is not really the important part of this..

Depending on the amount of songs that you add between builds the rescans will differ. I do know that doing a whole import is quicker than a recan because on an initial scan there is no having to check: if the file still exists & if its' been modified(tags), its just importing everything..

    Some inside info...

The builder dumps the information to be imported at every 5% to a file(db_data.tsv) located at the very root of where you ran the builder from. ie.. Ran from default loc, file would be at "C:\db_data.tsv". So when you get a sql error, the file(s) that are causing the problems should be located in that file(db_data.tsv) as when it tried to import that into the db something was out of place and caused the error to occur.

I couldn't get it to run in the skin so I started debugging stand alone for simplicity sake.

I figured as much but it would be nice to know, even on rebuilds, what files have missing items with "Files Missing Tag Info.txt" (and I recognize this is going to add some more time to the rebuild, but I consider it worth it).

    What worked for me...

I was having multiple errors with the database, and here's what fixed it for me.

I had an omega character for the O in The Police - Omegaman.mp3 and it was the last file scanned. I tried changing the file name to a regular O but it still hung on the file, so I moved it out of the music path.
The database then hung on importing the ratings files so I moved them out as well, figuring there were some missing files or bad paths in the lists.
Database then was able to finish with 9974 files in 4:17min.

VERY happy with the functions and I'm looking into setting up a sort based on bitrate (just starting so any tips much appreciated, but I still have some search/reading to do). This plugin rocks, and has been the one function missing from RR, thank you for creating it!

I opened the old ratings files in Winamp and used it to clean up the lists and save them as regular backup playlists. Works well enough for me.

By chance does the title of that song also have that omega char too?

There are checks done when it runs though those rating playlist's. There have been a small number of people have this same issue and is one of the fixes for the next update.

My plugin db does not contain the bitrate as to me its not really something all that important...

Ok, I solved the issue I was having. It turns out I had an extra 'rogue' rrmediadb file hidden amongst my original music folder. Removed that db file and wallah problem gone.

I've also seen the com error. I've found that, especially after a failure, looking at the taskbar I will have 3 to 5 db files running. If I close roadrunner, then right click on and select exit on the instances of db will resolve the com issue. I did have an instance or 2 where I had to manually remove the rrmediadb file.

Also found an instance of a song that would lock up the db file import. Turns out that when I opened the file in notepad it stated it was an I-tunes file. Go figure, it shouldn't make a difference. Winamp plays it fine and I could import the song separately or import it with up to 10 other songs. Go to adding the 11th song and ...crash.

    hope this helps

Thanks to the ones that are having problems and doing their own research to figure out what is causing their problems and reporting back for both myself and others to lookout for.

I do not have any idea how or why you had more than one builder running as there is a prevention to keep it from running more than one instance, but deff not the case there.

It did originally, yes. But it wouldn't import after changing the filename, nor when I changed the tag info. Might be a bad file, too(?)

Poo. Ah well, I've been using winamp to generate a 'high bitrate' playlist, I can keep doing that.
