    hi blue,

i uninstall all files for RRMedia, delete the both files in my MUSIC folder and start a new installation.
if its try to scan my musicfolder it stops after 2 seconds and no entry in it.

so i try it with the install of 1.0. there i get a complete scan of my music.

after installation i make the upgrade to version 1.2.2.0, also run the file 1.1dbUpdater.

the result of all is the same before. i can rate a song, it shows me the stars the time the song play. if the song change the stars are not showing (no star rated) after this song i switch the rated song again and it shows no stars.

if i look in my music folder i see 2 files, the biggest is RRMediaDB and the second the Rate.IN_ file.
in the Rate.IN_ file is written all songs i rate with 3,4,5 stars.
my question is, is the suffix of the rate file correct ?

perhaps i wait for the skin of MGD for comparing whats going wrong with my install.

with the 1.2.2.0 that size of a db file tells me that nothing is getting added to it as that is the size of an empty db file. after a build using the 1.2.2, what is contained in the builder_debug.txt found in the RMDatabase folder?

    hi blue,

    Builder_debug.txt

it ended after looking in folder BLUES, a lot of other Genres / Groups behind.
    ---------------------------
so i try it again after cleaning every genre folder, playlists.. mp3īs with 0Byte aso.

if i rescan i get the message "Invalid procedure call or argument RMBuilder" and it breaks by 29kB.

a last try of understanding how it works.

    1.step... i rate a song with 4 stars...
2.step... RRMedia.exe (always activ) see it and save it in file rate.IN_ in my music folder. (with editor i can see the entries)

QUESTION...is there another position where the number of stars would be saved too ?

    3.step...the song ended
4.step.. a new song starts..RRMedia looks ???IN WHAT FILE?? for fixed stars to this song and set the flags.

ALWAYS... cycled RRMedia looks if there are any changes.

is there any thing i must fix in the rr.ini too ?
the information in the exectbl.ini is the same as in your demo skin.
also the entry in the menu.skin is done.

i think the probelm is not the writing of selected stars, its the reading. therefore it would be nice if you can tell me which file(s) RRMedia read for fixed stars.

read the commands text file, couldn't work out if there was a Rescan media files option.

say for example if you have dropped some extra mp3's in your audio directory.

also is there a way to detect if RRMedia is running?

#2 That "Rate.in_" file is really just for a backup purpose only, it writes the rating to the db and then to that file. This way if/when something tragic happened to the db file,
all you have to do is delete ONLY the db file and upon creating a new db, it will put all of your prev rated songs back into to the db.

#4 Everything is done through the db.
