Help! I have recently encountered trouble with what I believe is an error in RRmedia. I have windows xphome and have been using RR with DFX5 for sometime now. Last week, for some reason, i started to receive a couple errors when RR loads coming out of hibernation. i get a Com error popup, and I also get a repeating popup of "unable to read c:\songs.txt".
DFX continues to load, and I can listen to HD radio, but obviously issues with music files. rebuild database just hangs, and I completely reinstalled RR (feb release) and DFX5 with no luck.
Any thoughts? I'll move on to DFX forum next if no ideas here. I thought the reinstall would fix it, now I'm stumped.
"unable to read c:\songs.txt"
This error is from the InetRadioLabels plugin of mine thats included in the dfx5 installer. For now to deal with one issue at a time, un reg its dll in RR's plugin folder and that will keep RR from loading it.
On the RRMedia side, try deleting its database at your root musicpath 'RRMediadb.db' and do a scan, could just be some db corruption.
Very helpful. Thank you for the quick reply. Both issues appear to be resolved, and I know a little more about this awesome plugin as well now.
new question. now that I've got past those issues, I'm rebuilding my database. I spent multiple hours over the last few weeks cleaning up all my mp3 tags in itunes and sync with my external hdd which is my music source for rrmedia. when i use the genre browse, I don't see the right set of genre's i set in itunes under v2 tags. I looked at a few suspect songs in winamp using the view file info, and it shows the correct tag in v2, but the v1 tag is wrong, and what is being displayed in rrmedia browser. I have tried all the different tag choices in rrconfig to no avail, to include rebuilding the database each time. so how do I get the rrmedia browser to read the v2 tag? is the tag info stored in the db, or reading straight off the file each time?
Blue, I was doing some updates and didn't realize that DFX 5.0.3 had updated RRMedia to 1.3.0. I uninstalled RRMedia through the Control Panel, then installed 1.3.0 with the full installer, but things aren't working properly.
Are the file paths in these instructions still correct, because none of the files are in the RR folder or in the RMDatabase folder as shown below:
#1 Place the "RRMediaDb.dll" file be in the Road Runner folder and registered, along with Placing a "X,RRMediaDb" line in the "Menu.skin" file
#2 The RMDatabase folder and all of its contents be placed in the Road Runner folder having the below minimal listed files
In the '..\Road Runner\RMDatabase folder:
In the '..\Road Runner\RMDatabase\Support Files' folder:
#4 The following files in the '..\Road Runner\RMDatabase\Support Files' folder be registered: cddbcontrol.dll & sqlite3u.dll
#5 A "RM_ONSONGSTART" cmd needs to be in the "ONSONGSTART" Event in either RoadRunner's Main ExexTbl.ini file or the skins ExecTbl.ini
No, I have to update the install directions in that file. I didn't do it when I made the newer version, just wanted to get it packaged up and posted. It will updated when I release v2.0
The only difference between the full rrmedia installer is just the demo shin. The dfx5 install did update/install the latest rrmedia version if opt was left selected in the dfx installer.
Just telling me that it's not working right, doesn't do either one of us any good.
You're right, but I did imply with my file path question that the program didn't seem to be even starting.

Just installed new 1.3 version, thanks for this! (small donation sent).
Having an issue with RR Media and I'm hoping someone can help.
I'm using the carwings dynamic skin and I created an RM_Media.skin for it. I launch the skin using the "RR_Media" command from a button on my audio_browser.skin. I've tested all the functionality I want to use and everything is working beautifully (great plugin!!).
My problem is that when I use RRMedia in my carwings skin, the CPU usage on my pc shoots up to 60-70% and stays there until I exit RR. When I run the DFX4.0 skin and use RRmedia, the CPU never even peaks at that percentage and instead hovers around 15-30%. I've checked all the command in my skin and compared them to the commands in DFX4 and I can't find any obvious reason for the huge performance difference. As a point of reference, if I start RR with the carwings skin and resume playing the saved playlist, use GPS, launch video, etc. The cpu never goes above 50%, much less stay there. The second I launch RR_Media, the cpu usage shoots up and stays there.
Anyone have any ideas on where/what I should look for?
You'd have thought that the plugin would come with example skin files already for Carwings.
Especially as that is part of the requirements for a plugin to be in the released plugins section.
