Step one would be purchasing the FB, fog lights, and a relay. Go ahead and purchase the female relay adapter so its as easy as splicing wires. Next you google how to wire a relay.. its not hard, in fact there are some threads on this site regarding such a thing. You hook up your FB to power and usb, install the drivers, the follow the instructions to install RRFusion. From there you the demo skin or your own custom skin to switch teh fog lights on/off based on which port on the FB you hooked your relay to.
Well I apologize for the "Vagueness" of the question but I was more eluding to the fact that the Brain offers so much but I find the software confusing even at my tech level. I know how to wire fog lights, I know how to wire a relay... Just pushing for some "how to" sections for the Brain I guess.. A lot of explanations lack depth. I got my answer in a PM. Thanks.

So I placed my order for the fusion brain and some toys for it...

I know to you coders/skinners these questions are redundant and anoying but here ya go anyways.

I downloaded the software from Fusion Brains website and started playing with it. In general what I want to do is have a button in RR/DFX4 called "Lights".

Once the button is pushed I would like to be able to have 3 buttons labeled to their correlating functions. I have been picking through posts, threads, and everything that I can find. Not to be pushy, but a lot of this is very vague. I downloaded a PDF showing "how to turn on a light bulb". Great information, but I guess I am not on that level of thinking yet. Where it states to "Add x, RRfusion" to your menu.skin I am confused. Am I opening my current skins (DFX4) "menu.skin" file and just throwing that line in somewhere? Or is this to be added to a created skin file for the lights I need to make. I added the sample skins folder to to the DFX 4 folder. Wouldn't I need to make a button for RRfusion? I guess I don't really know where to begin. I really wish I had skinning knowledge, but I'm struggling here.

DFX4 isnt really a noob friendly skin when it comes to skin creation and developing.. and thats a credit to johns work in having it user friendly. I can only guide you so far with how to get RRFusion rolling in DFX4. We'll go step by step though.

-Plug your FB to your computer.. give it power, install the drivers
-Place your RRFUSION folder where u want it (the preferred RR location is inside the "PLUGINS" folder in your rr folder)
-Run the "RunMe1st.cmd" in the RRFusion folder
-Now here's a step thats different from the readme.... In the DFX4 skin folder there's a file called "plugins.txt". Open that file and add x,RRFusion. Save the file and close it. This tells RR to enable the plugin.

Now thats about as far as i can take you with using it in DFX. I dont know how johns dynamic menu commands work.. but essentially what u'll need to do is change a button in DFX4 to run the command "RRFUSION". This will take you to rrfusion.skin and allow you to control your lights via the DIGITALOUT#TOGGLE commands. Check the DFX thread for how to add a custom command to the main menu or PM john i'm sure he'll help

Well you are a huge help! I knew that "adding X, RRfusion to the Menu.skin of DFX4 seemed a little off.

Hopefully John will put this in his next release, I know he has been waiting for something like this for his FBrain. Thanks for the help again, that "Plugins.txt." was my problem.

If you just purchased your brain you have a newer version of the driver.. one that isnt coded into RRFusion and quite possibly may never be because i dont have the cash to spend on the new hardware to test. See if you can find out of the new version FB's are compatible with the older drivers.

Ok, Finally got the FB hooked up and testing I have 2 temp sensors, and a pot hooked to it. I can see these in the MDX software, and can control the outputs (See the LED's lED's light up), and read the temperature correctly. Thus, the drivers are installed and working.

I can not however get the RR plugin to work no matter what I do.

By the way, I have just read every single post in this thread before posting here

Sonic, you mentioned in a previous post:

inside this entry there is a key named 0 and the value is the device instance of your fusion brain. if you go to that entry and dont see a 0 key simple add a string value, name it 0 and enter your device instance as the value
I have no WINUSB folder or key listed. (See attached screen cap) This is a full WinXP Pro install BTW.

I also noticed that when I issue the "RRFUSION" command with the skin tool, the rrfusion.skin does not load, which seems to tell me the DLL is not "running". I have added it to the plugins.txt, and even disabled all other plugins for testing... nothing.

You also mentioned in a previous post to look in device manager for "Da Fusion Brain" My entry is "The Fusion Brain V3". Not sure if this makes a difference 2k1Toaster said that drivers are backwards compatible.

When the new Fusion MDX installed yesterday, it updated my .net so I now have 1,1.1, 2, 2.1, 3, and 3.5 installed.

There are no references or anything pertaining to the FB in the RR.ini or in the Skin.ini as you stated, just in the:
    \Road Runner\Plugins\RRFusion\rrfusion.ini

I ran the RunMeFirst to register the .net dll, and even unregistered and re-registered a couple times during trouble shooting.

Any clues on where to go from this point?
