hmm what parts of that does RRVM have to handle specifically.. it'd be easy to add a refresh command that would just read the data files.. but do you need RRVM to send the files to flash and then return them to the plugin folder? I know diddly about HORM.

I've got the backup/restore thing covered.
I just need a command to reread all maintainence data in RRVM. Because of the way HORM works, any additions/changes made to the maintainence data is lost once the PC is shutdown. On resume, the data file will revert to the state/revision the PC hibernated in.
Here is the sequence of events:
-RR is running
-Add RRVM data
-Initiate shut down sequence thru RR
-My PI backs up the latest RRVM data to a flash drive
-RR runs thru HORM sequences and shuts down
-RR resumes
-My PI restores last saved RRVM data to RRVM PI folder overwriting the old data
-Execute RRVM refresh command to read restored RRVM data to bring car history current
-Do a happy dance.

Hey Sonic, this may be a dumb question, but how is distance to empty calculated.... I don't remember entering my fuel tank capacity anywhere... did I miss something?

i was thinking about this last night.. have you tried HORM with the existing version. The text files are read in user-specified intervals if they exist, so shouldnt it just resume back to reading after you've placed the files back? If i need to change something i will.. just test it out first.
Its based on your calculated MPG, and your MPG is only gonna be close to accurate if you're the type of person who waits to be near empty then fills up to full. Basically if i know you get 30MPG and know you added 10gals last time you filled up i know your estimated miles before empty would be 300 miles after a fresh fuel. From there i just subtract your distance since last fuel. This of course is done with MY math and its been quite awhile since i applied it to anything other than RR plugins
I will be releasing a new beta with requested improvements tomorrow.

At what point is the data read? Is the data read at RR/skin start up or before you load the RRVM skin?
I've installed the PI, but because of the HORM enviroment, the labels/list is not updating after I've copied over the updated RRVM data ini files.
Does the fact the RRVM skin is already loaded having anything to do with the labels not refreshing with the udpated data?
Thx.

the data is written/read from maintenance tracker.ini at the interval you specified during initial setup. Its read from the point the plugin is loaded until the plugin is closed so it would seem the labels would go blank until the next time maintenance tracker.ini exists in the plugin folder... but whats most likely happening is if the .ini doesnt exist some function crashes and the plugin essentially halts. I will look in the code and make sure the functions that require the .ini file are checking to see if it exists before reading/writing it. That should solve the problem.
