Latest version will be publicly available as soon as the mp3car app store fixes a bug in the upload process.

I added a default value for the timer interval and fixed the dismiss routine.

Hey Sonic, maybe it's just me but the latest version doesn't seem to calculate average MPG correctly. I input several lines from my old fuel log.ini, and stopped to get gas. The average MPG went to zero and slowly went up as I drove home. Any ideas?

sounds like the fuel_log.xml has something wrong in it or its not being read. Show me the debug file (in the plugin folder) and the .xml and i'll see whats wrong.

Can't find a debug file... I tried putting "debug=true" in the ini file, but still nothing. The fuel log is attached.

just throwing a spanner in the works by asking this, but since dadinlaw passed and left me and my girlfriend with a brand new car, i was wondering if it was possible to add some features that could take advantage of obd, like getting the do meter reading instead of using gps which q˙ickly adds quite a few km's without moving. also with obd it would be possible to log each trip with info like engine temp at start , km's traveled etc. so that the day you sell a car you can print out a more detailed history than you normal would...

There is some preliminary planning in the works on expanding this plugin to truly be an all encompassing vehicle solution. In the future, there will be a "pro" version of the plugin which, at a small cost, will enable several enhanced options. Some of the ideas being thrown around are:

-Full OBD-II reader with CEL code declaration and reset available
-Remote data access from any other PC with internet access. This will be able to not only read data from RRVM, but also add data to the car PC remotely
-Enhanced method of calculating distance. Despite what some of you may thing, reading distance via OBD is not foolproof because of the delay in OBD technology. I'm discussing options with a math professor at a local university to see how we can improve the core feature of the plugin
-Enhanced report email capability with an extended history and custom user-selectable queries (ie temp at start)

i'm adding ideas as i gather the information needed for what i'm trying to do. There's certainly no ETA for the pro version, or is there a price model yet, but i will relay the info as it becomes available.

    wow....

if you need tester just say so. Ib fact i dont even have a gps unit as i bhought garmins own that cant be shared (does not list as com thing) so that was why i thought of getting the odometer from odb...

as for mpg, well most cars do this themselves, and i even think that you can get that from the car, but not sure thou. but it would be nice to be able to track how much fuel has been added etc...

regarding the delay... i think its something under 10 sec's and i cant se a harm in that since the car will be standing still when we use RRVM.. anyways data would be precise 10 secs after we stop and i would say that most could make do with that. at the gas pump it would not matter as the car would have been standing still for at least that.

the delay i'm referring to is the baud rate of OBD technology. Each PID is polled individually, so the data you get from OBD-II is at least a second behind the actual data of the car. Its probably closer to 3-4 seconds in the average scenario where you have 8-10 PIDs to poll. So imagine this... you pull up to a red light, but your vehicle still thinks you're at speed for 3-4 seconds. Its easy to see why OBD distance calculation is just as iffy as GPS calculation. The Centrafuse version of this plugin DOES use OBD data, so i have real world samples of its inaccuracies.

Not all cars can be polled for actual Odometer reading. If that could be acheived it'd make my like a whooole lot easier
