All that needs to be done to allow external handling of pause/volume is to
stop RR and
take these lines in RRVoice.ini:

VROnCmd=SETVOL;Master;0
VROffCmd=SETVOL;Master;

and change to:

VROnCmd=
VROffCmd=

restart RR and
then use your technique...

Is there anyway to change the speech profile used while rrvoice is running. I have a passenger who likes to take charge occasionally (the wife) and my speech profile doesn't work for her french accent. I'd like to just change the windows speech profile (without shutting down rrvoice or rr) depending on the current user and have rrvoice use it but I assume RRVoice can only use one profile per run. I can do all the coding to change the profile just wondered if it would be used.

Did this get fixed? Testing w/ the July RR and PI doesn't call the "ONRRVCSHUTDOWN" event.

I actually just did a quick check and Yes, changing the profile is able to be done but requires to be done while the engine is not active.

RRVoice is gonna give you trouble in Win 7, cause it has to run in compatibility mode....I think RR does too...
Also I am not abiding by the MicroHoo Directive that all ini's or user files go into user folder. They are in the plugin's folder...Check file/folder permissions there...
Win7 probably won't be supported by me in the near future...
I am using Win2K on all my boxes except the linux ones.
It works fine, and I do more than most on one...
If I move up it will be all Linux...
Why would anyone need Win7 and 20,000 songs in their car????
On a slower CarPC thats gonna choke for awhile on indexing 20,000 songs.
And, with a nice skin, RR works and looks just the same on Win2k, XP, or Win7...
I don't get it...

windows 7 pretty much tops xp in about every way imaginable. notably, win7 boots faster. its not even a comparison when you use the touch functions too. power management is better, and overall it is a faster/smoother and MUCH smarter operating system. i run win7 with a celeron 430 single core processor, and a 320gb harddrive... the speed is excellent.

also, if you program for win7 you will enable support for all vista machines too, as the sound structure is the same. the way the sound works in vista/win7 is also so much better then xp, i would think that alone would be a good reason to support the new os.

in contrast to your statement, i really have no idea why anyone would want to stick with win2000/xp. that is mid-90's technology honestly.

In the context of a CarPC, the context of a free Plugin for a free Frontend, I think it is ridiculous to spend almost $200, for an operating system, When Win2K or XP work just fine. There is nothing in Vist...Err, Win7 that makes it a must have...for a CarPC.
Vin7 is not new technology, It is recoded crap to get you to pay more money. Take the time to learn about what you have before reaching for what you don't have...

i said the same things when win7 was in rc... but there are a lot of reasons why i avoid xp at all costs now. first, microsoft did everything they could to get win7 out there for big discounts, they did admit vista was not polished enough for release. but win7 is very well refined, and its clear that its the favored replacement for xp (win8 sounds like it will need hefty processing power). youre on the path to being left behind by not supporting longhorn, because its here to stay for at least the next two os's. i cant imagine it would take that much to support the new windows format, but i really dont know so i will shut up.

and im not trying to argue. its your work and effort, and i really appreciate people like you because i dont have the time to learn stuff like this right now. keep up the good work man!

This new dll is still not firing the "ONRRVCSHUTDOWN" event. I have not yet the time to play with the newly added Terminate procedure. My guess would be that your trying to fire it from that new procedure. Which, by the looks of RR debug log, is not going be fired as by the time RR executes that procedure RR is NOT taking anymore qued cmd requests and it gets ignored.
