    Obvious Newbie Question (sorry)

    I have decided to look at building a carpc, for a e39 bmw. As a complete newcomer to this, I am trying to decide between Centrafuse, OpenMobile and RR. One important factor for me is getting the 4 basic steering wheel buttons (VOL+, VOL-, MENU+, MENU-) to work with one of these frontends.

    I understand that I need to use the iBus for this, and theat I need a Resler interface. but this is where the obvious things stop, I have looked at the readme file in your download, and it just gives lines and lines of code, where do you put these lines?

    I find it hard to believe there is not a simple guide/tutorial that explains what to do with the resler interface to make roadrunner respond.

    I have searched for the following:

    e39 steering controls
    bmw ibus
    ibus steering controls

    etc etc

    Can someone point me in the right direction?

    hello,

    Congratulations on your plugin, but I find it less than IBUSRR.EXE provided.

    Indeed, in the version of IbusRR we can open and close the windows, we can also turn each light independently, it is also possible to open the trunk and lock the doors.
    But this brings me to your plugin is that I electrically folding mirrors and I was able to fall back from RR (something I can not do with Ibusrr).

    Otherwise, here is the code I returned IbusRR if this can help.

    Another option that is useful is the ability attributions of functions to other keys on the steering wheel according to the skin or we find ourselves.
    For example, if we sum in menu.skin, then we have the classic features, but if we are in audio_player.skin, then we have other function.

    Here is what exists in IbusRR:

    ; ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    ; RoadRunner skin commands -------------------------------------------------------
    ; ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    ; [default.commands.skin] Default command to execute when not on a .ini defined RR Screen
    ;
    ; [{RRScreen}.skin] Commands to execute on the specified RR Screen
    ; I.E. menu.skin, audioplayer.skin, etc
    ;
    ; PREV_PRES: Execute when previous button is pressed
    ; PREV_QUICK_REL: Execute when previous button is released within 1 second
    ; PREV_HOLD_REL: Execute when previous button is released after 1 second
    ; PREV_HOLD: Execute when previous button is held for 1 second
    ;
    ; NEXT_PRES .... Same as previous!
    ; REPEAT_HOLD_CMD If true, repeat the HOLD command every HoldDelay until button
    ; is released. Useful for scrolling in audio/browser player
    ;
    ; [SwitchScreens] You can replace any command by !SWITCHSCREENS! and define here
    ; which screens you want your button to switch.
    ; NumberOfScreens Number of screens to switch between
    ; 0= ... 1=... RR Command to execute for switching.
    ; ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    [default.commands.skin]
    PREV_PRES=""
    PREV_QUICK_REL="PREV"
    PREV_HOLD_REL="STOPFRWD"
    PREV_HOLD="STARTFRWD"
    NEXT_PRES=""

    NEXT_HOLD_REL="STOPFFWD"

    PLUS_PRES="VOL+"
    MINUS_PRES="VOL-"
    PHONE_PRES="!SWITCHSCREENS!"
    RT_PRES="PLAY"

    [menu.skin]

    Hi JanneH0,

    Hi,
    The simple guide/tutorial are out there, just need to find them. This is the one I use when I first started with pc in the car http://home.valentinbyhr.com/krisbmw...stall_High.pdf It will give all the info you need to get started.
    Also recommend to make the HW work first. To do that use CarX as start http://www.carx24.de/carx.htm and when you have everything up and running without any problem -> then you can switch SW.

    Hi,
    Assume you ask to add those "features"? If so then I don't think you have understand the plugin.

    IbusCommunicatoRR can do everything IbusRR can (and more), it just do it differently.
    In the case of sending message to ibus, you can send any message you want (you do not need to define the message to send in a .ini file)

    Here is an example to show the difference when sending a "open trunk" message from a button in a skin

    IbusRR skin file:
    "SENDMSG;IBusRR;OPEN_TRUNK"

    Same function in a IBusCommunicatoRR skin file:
    "IBusCommunicatoRR;sendtoibus;3F 05 00 0C 95 01 A2"

    So you just enter the ibus code you want to send

    You can do that too, you just need to do it different -> Use ExecTBL

    Example on "NEXT_HOLD"
    In the IbusRR config you have "NEXT_HOLD" configured as "STARTFFWD" in menu and "PGDOWN" in audio.

    To have same function in IBusCommunicatoRR you have "NEXT_HOLD" configured as "STARTFFWD".
    Just add "STARTFFWD","PGDOWN",Audio_player.skin in the ExecTBL and your done.

    Hi,
    Yep it's already added, but I have not tested it so I don't know if it works.

    Pdc

    Dear JanneH0,

    My name is Nick and I'm also using Riderunner with Ibuscommunicator alpha and IbusComunicatoRR. I have a question about the reverse gear on, I was wondering were in the IbusComunicatoRR ini do i put the information below. And I also want to know how to fit it to the PDC ini file because I'm using a oem PDC from BMW are these the information I can read in "read me file"

    Thank you so much
    Hope you can help me.
    My best regards
    Nick

    [QUOTE=JanneH0;1423692]Hi,

    You can do that already, just create a new ID# in .ini file and the RRCommand to load the skin file.

    Don't know what the code for reverse is but here is an example:
    [ID=145]
    IDName=REVERSE_GEAR_ON
    MsgTemplate="Ibus Code here"
    Label="Reverse Gear engaged"
    Parse=True
    System=True
    RTSEnable=
    ReplyMsgID=
    ButtonState=False
    ReleaseID=
    PressOrHoldID=
    RRCommand="LOAD;rearviewcamera.skin"

    and you might want another when reverse off -> RRCommand="EXIT"

    Hi Nick and welcome,

    I'm not sure what you want to do here, pls try to explain more.

    The plugin read the distance from the oem PDC already, no need to detect "reverse gear"
