Song not deleted from playlist when re-rated?

I'm using LSX Void 2.0 and everything has worked fine with this plugin but when I re-rate a song, say from 4 stars to three stars, it stays in the 4 stars play list and gets added to the 3 stars play list. Is this supposed to happen or am I missing something?

    new version released

New version released. Check Post 1

The only real add-in is genre based supplemental playlist creation. Basically the plugin reads the genre from the track path, creates a folder within your playlist folder and saves a seperate "star" playlist for that particular genre. This is helpful if u wanted to listen to your 5-star Hip-Hop tracks for instance. Again this Genre folder is created from the trackpath and will only work correctly if your songs are organized as such

sooo i was thinkin about modifying this plugin a bit...

i wasthinkin of making it an extension plugin for RR instead of a autoit script. But first i'd like some feedback from you guys. I was thinkin of implementing the ID3 ratings into the program. I found out how to read each from of the ID3 tag so i can read the rating. My question is.. does winamps rating system suck *** or what? I see that you can rate the songs within winamps media library but nothing is applied to the tag. A few of you requested the ability to read/write the id3 to the tag via this plugin but i dont see how it would work with winamp. So you guys that do rate there songs via winamp (or whatever other way ya do them).. can ya explain to me what frame on the ID3 tag the rating is written to? I like the idea of sorting/shuffling the playlist in rr based on ratings and i think its acheivable but i dont see how this could be done within winamp.

Not sure on this, but what I have understood about winamps rating system and how it is saved, is that it saves the rating in its lib listing. So Say you add all your media to the winamp lib and have rated everysong (ya right..LOL), then if you say uninstall winamp and delete it's prog folder if it still remains, that you would in fact lose all those ratings.

Keep in mind, this is only what I have hear/read somewhere...

that seems to be exactly how it works and thats quite simply retarded. Why would they bother adding a rated function if allt he ratings are stored within the software and not the mp3. I found out that windows media player 11 writes directly to the comment section of the ID3 tag. Sure do wish winamp did somethin similar.

Well, then wise one...if you where able to read the winamp lib, then you could poss write a app that would scan through the file and add the appropit(sp) files to their correct star rated folder/add the rating correctly to the songe tag....

honestly thats not even worth it to me. I could read the library i'm sure and that would give me the rating but if ANYTHING changes .. drive path, name change.. id3 tag change.... the rating goes away.

I agree 100%, thats the way it is now with the playlists. If the drive changes or anything else, the ratings are lost. At least with the way it is now with the 1star, 2star.... playlists, they can be modified. When I take the time to rate songs here on the desktop, I just load the playlists in a text editor and do a search and replace for the path, and set it to match the path to the music in the car.

For example Here is a path for a song on my desktop:

    f:\Media\MP3\Blue Man Group\this song.mp3

I just simply do a search for:
    F:\Media\MP3\

    and replace with:
    D:\MP3\

If a way could be found to write to a tag in the MP3 that would be fantastic!

Tag&Raname is of course able to write to this field, and Windows has an option to display it in the details view. It's just a matter of seeing if Winamp can read from this field, and then be able to write to it somehow.

I started working on a tag editor with the ratings field for RR a while ago. Didn't get much done before I got sidetracked. I'll see if I can find what I had got done.

Well, I have been working on this as well. I am able to read and write the tag's directly to the MP3 file using an AutoIt script. The problem I am having is that sometimes the comment tag writes correctly, other times it does not. It is very strange. I am still working on it and seeing if I can get this to work or not 100%

    EDIT: Ok this is strange!

I have 2 simple scripts, one writes the tag, the other reads the tag and shows it in a MSGBOX.

If I set the comment tag to "test" in the writer script, and run it, then run the script to read it, it works
If I look at the tags in Tag & Rename, it does not show under the comments. (Under V2 or V3 tags)
If I write a tag then with Tag & Rename, and then run the script to read it, it shows the info entered in Tag & Rename.
Then if I try to write the tag with the writer script, it doesn't change the comment. I have to erase the comment in Tag & Rename, and then I can write to it again with the writer script!

It is as if the script, and Tag & Rename are writing a different "header" or something to the comment field..... I am going in circles here now hehehe
