    Hi again...

well I started to think that I had some problem with RR so I installed another plugin, powermon, did it in the exact same way, registered the DLL, put in the x,powermon in the menu skin and so on... and this time it worked... with that plugin anyway...

Since u made it for the Cdgrey skin I even tried it with that one, but everytime I go to the trip meter skin and have the x,tripmeter in the menu.skin file RR Freezes, if I remove that line from my menu.skin file I can start the skin but then I can't do much with it...

I need some help getting this to run... even made a skin for Freedom since I was getting bored...

    [edit]
well no responses yet, might I need some kind of SDK or something since it seems to call that function...

Hi Festy, just a quick suggestion.. there has been one or two reports of the plugin freezing up while waiting for RR's path. I haven't seen your code, but you should probably add a time-limit of how long it can wait for RR's path after it's requested, something like:

    ComSend "REQUEST;milage;RRPATH"
    While RRPATH <> ""
    doevents/sleep
    wend

should probably be changed to one of those:

    1:
    ComSend "REQUEST;milage;RRPATH"
    t = timer
    While RRPATH <> "" and timer - t < 5
    doevents/sleep
    if timer < t then t = timer
    wend

    2: (With Latest RR BETA)
    Dim SDK as object
    Set SDK = CreateObject("RoadRunner.SDK")
    RRPATH = SDK.GetInfo("RRPATH")
    Set SDK = Nothing

3: You may also consider saving/loading whatever you need to save/load in RR's path into the Dll's folder instead (using App.path). I like this approach since if the user places it into RR's folder, it's the same and when the user makes a folder to keep things organized, then he can get rid of the whole folder if he has no more use for it.

I'm sorry if I may seem controlling or somehing, it's not my intention at all, those are just suggestions.. I do appreciate the work you've been putting out with the plugins you made so far.

And I thought I was alone with this problem...

I love the looks of the plugin and I would need something like this for work since I drive around and have demonstrations everywhere, my boss wants me to report the different distances every week so this would make my life so much simpler...

I downloaded the version that u had attached and replaced the old milage.dll file but RR still freezes when I try to load it...

    Code:
    2006-10-11 22:58:16: Executing: LOAD;tripp.skin
    2006-10-11 22:58:18: SDK command: SETLABEL;CUSTOMFREEFONE;OFF@OFF@1@1@
    2006-10-11 22:58:19: Enter Exec: True, tripp.skin, "SETLABEL;CUSTOMFREEFONE;OFF@OFF@1@1@", False
    2006-10-11 22:58:19: Queued: "SETLABEL;CUSTOMFREEFONE;OFF@OFF@1@1@"
    2006-10-11 22:58:19: SDK command: SETLABEL;CUSTOMFREEFONE;OFF|OFF@0@0@
    2006-10-11 22:58:19: Enter Exec: True, tripp.skin, "SETLABEL;CUSTOMFREEFONE;OFF|OFF@0@0@", False
    2006-10-11 22:58:19: Queued: "SETLABEL;CUSTOMFREEFONE;OFF|OFF@0@0@"
    2006-10-11 22:58:19: Enter Exec: True, tripp.skin, , False
    2006-10-11 22:58:20: SDK command: REQUEST;milage;RRPATH
Nevermind about all the freefone lines, it's just since I tried it in CRD's skin and didnt have my phone connected... it seems to be some error in that last part

    Code:
    Request;milage;RRPATH
I dont know if I messed up but all I need to change in the skin is to add this to the bottom menu.skin file, right:

    Code:

Sorry guys, I've been a bit busy lately but checked it out this morning.
The problem with the Milage plugin wasn't hanging while waiting for RRPATH (that was just the last thing it did that caused a log entry), it was because I added a feature for someone that required a seperate ini, and didn't realise it would lock up if that ini wasn't found
Of course it wasn;t happening for me, becasue I had the extra file.

All sorted now, and as per Guino's suggestion, all associated files are now moved to the dir that the plugin is in.

Ahh... well then I can understand why u didnt get the same errors as I did... I tried downloading that new .dll file and replaced the old one in my skin folder... but I still got the same problem... Should they all be put in a new folder somewhere now... thinking of that last part u wrote

    [edit]
Well I made a new folder in the RR folder named Milage, downloaded a new version of the plugin, replaced the dll... cleaned out my registry and then registered the dll again and guess what... it seems to work...

Now I just need someone to make a skin for freedom for it... finally I can throw away pen and paper for typing down every mile I go for work... love it!

does this allow for manual entry of start and finish odometer readings? i should be keeping a log of all work trips but i dont currently have gps... or is this going to give me a very good reason to buy a gps unit on the weekend?
