I kinda figure this. if you are too irresponsible to not watch DVD's while you drive, you probably are not going to go to the effort to actually install a plugin to keep you from doing it. Just my 2c.
I watch movies/Family Guy all the time while driving.
Its really not a big deal and not as dangerous as most people think.
Most of it is peripheral-eye watching, but if you're out on a highway
without much traffic, I see no problem with glancing at the screen for
a few seconds at a time.
And I know all you safely people are going to flip and point out 'what if a dog/deer/kid runs into the street!??'. Well you just have to just use
your best judgement and be alert.
I've been doing this for almost 3 years and have never even had a close call because of it. And, IMHO, I think that Im safer then some guy talking on his cellphone because I constantly aware that its a distraction and compensate appropriately for it.
Plus passengers love it![]()

I really cant wait for this feature to be working 100% without problems, Here in the UK the cops can give you points on your license and a fine on the spot if you are caught watching movies. How are they to know that your not watching a movie? This plugin is great since you can actually have it hooked up to handbrake. Thus making you have an actual chance of defence against a court of law!

Somehow it wont' for me.
Finally I've got the gpsspd label working.
It now shows the speed tha is beeing generated by the GPSgate GPS simulator.
But it seems that the motionlock plugin is not being loaed.
id did the dll registratin with regsvr32, copied the .ini to the rr homedir, copyd the skin and .pg file to my skin dir ... but nothing happens.
Any hints or suggestions?
Did you move the dll to your RR dir *after* you regsvr32'd it? If so, regsvr32 /u the dll, then regsvr32 it again.
Sure.
the .dll is regitered in it's current location.
The "MOTIONLOCK_BACK" button function in the motionlook_denied menu isn't working too.
Nothing is happening and there is no entry in the debug log if I load the .skin manualy and klick on this button.
So I assume the plugin is not loaded.
All you have to do to include this plugin iabter de copying, registering ect. ist to include a "X,motionlock" line in the menu.skin ? correct?
@2Eck: all you should have to do is copy the motionlock.dll to somewhere (anywhere, it doesn't matter), regsvr32 the dll, add 'X,Motionlock' to menu.skin, copy motionlock.ini to your RR directory, and copy the motionlock skin/jpgs to your skin dir. You should see a bunch of REQUESTs for GPSSPD in your debug log from motionlock once it starts.
@zyrus1: - this is a RR plugin, so can't work without roadrunner. To write something like this for windows would be a bit harder - it works by intercepting RR commands, and blocking video related ones while moving, which would not be easy to implement in windows itself.
We're lucky here in oz, the new road rules coming in allow for a tv tuner/dvd in the driver's view, as long as the system also has functioning navigation software installed![]()
I havent a clue why anyone would truly want this. Safety aside you would really have to disable every aspect of the front end to keep things safe while driving.
Everyone I know that has a aftermarket stereo with gps/dvd video always wants to disable this "feature"
That being said its nice to have the option for those that want it. So good work on it. We need more plugins and functionality in Roadrunner.

no-one would *want* to do it, but it's a legal requirement to do so in a lot of countries.
My plugin probably wouldn't get you out of a ticket as it is now, I imagine you'd have to be able to demonstrate something like a handbrake lock-out to the boys in blue (which I haven't implemented yet, but will get around to it one day)...
I don't run the plugin myself, but then again I don't have video or dvd capabilities through my frontend anyway.
