I have also had issues using Release 5.1.3534.0411 with RREarth which were not limited to GE zooming in to a "singularity" and locking up all on it's own.

I am just getting started on a Google Support plug-in that among other things includes support for GE similar to but not the same as what Guino developed.

My target is the current release (5.1.3534.0411) but I am already having problems with the GE API in that some of the Tour methods don't work but fail with an error. I have notified Google of this problem but have heard nothing.

My intent is to use the GE APIs and minimize use of button pushes, mouse clinks, and other such "programmed operator" techniques (which generally are unwittingly designed to fail), thus the "...similar to but not the same..." remark.

I have been told that the GE 5.0... releases work with the current RREarth and are available form Google but I know not where.

Google claims the APIs will be backward compatible with future releases but we will see.

They seem to be emphasizing a plugin approach with browsers but I haven't even gone there.

I will publish what I have once I feel it is ready (or almost ready) "for prime time".

I like the sound of the work that your doing and do encourage you on continueing and completeing this. I will be willing to beta test for you aswel. Please do start a thread that i can subscribe to so i can keep updated as you progress

I have tested for a while with 5.0

While that version has it's own iddiosynchocies (sp?) it functions much better than 5.1

Looking foward to any news about new plugin dev

I have an issue that i considered posting in the skin section but i thought i would run it by you guys first.

I am trying to migrate away from LSXVOID to EliteWings skin.

When creating a skin for the EliteWings i get an issue with the apllication loosing the embeding when i click the "Exit" Button

I looked over and over in both skins to try to recreate it but i come up empty. LSXVOID successfully uses the "ESC" command to go back to the main menu and leaves google earth embedded and running in the background. When i click the Google Earth button again (which uses the "GE_START"command) it takes me right back to Google earth and everything is already running and embedded.

When i use the skin i created no matter what command i use ("ESC" or "EXIT") the google earth application looses focus. The only command that works is the "GE_CLOSE" command which closes the application each time. It would be nice to not have to close it everytime

The command in my exectbl.ini is currently is "GE_START||GE_EMBED" but i have tried just "GE_START"

Can anyone offer any advice?

BTW i have this issue with 4.2 and up

I am trying to reinstall this. I had several copies in several locations and in an effort to clean things up i deleted them all... Searched for rrearth.dll in the registry and deleted all parent GUIDS (it found 3) My question is: Can the folder that i create live under the RoadRunner\Plugins\RREarth\*files?

My issue is that it embeds properly but the GPS location doesn't update. its like the gps.kml file is corrupt or something.

Any Ideas?

I guess it looks like i am the only one who cares about this awesome plugin.

Does anybody have any idea on how i can keep it running in the background without loosing focus?

I have reverted to 4.2 because with my setup i was having to many problems with v5 cause it was so unreliable

I have something in the works that incorporates many of the Google facilities including the latest Google Earth, which by the way doesn't work at all well with the current GE plug-in because there were so many changes to GE going to 5.1.

However, I just found out that some medical procedures are in my near future so it may be a month or so until I get a Beta out but preliminary experiments demonstrates that it should work well.

So hold on as I want/need the functionality as well.

I am sorry to hear about the upcomming medical issues. I do look foward to seeing a beta plugin. Will the plugin when it is available. The current plugin features would work fine for my needs if it was a bit more reliable. Sometimes it works perfectly, other times it is unpredictable. Will the plugin you are making have a similar feature set?

Btw i anyone want to help with my skinning issue? It still looses focus
