if it can send scrolling messages to the LED displays in a BMW .. then it stands to reason that it can send iBus .. can't it otherwise it would'nt be able to get the messages though .. eh?
    !

I'm sorry if I sound rude - not intended - but judging by your last question, your understandig of how the iBus works must be limited. are you sure you want to go messing around in the guts of a sub-system which is responsible for controlling all your non-critical services ??? It's a lot more "dangerous" in an e46 than it is an an e39.

The RR SDK is how it manages to get the song titles for display. The old method doesn't work any more. I'm sure Skully has an alternative version for FreeeIce, and when I get around to setting up my test system at home, I'll probably provide a switch in the ini file to select your front end. Until then its Roadrunner only if you want scrolled messages. If you don't .. look for all the comments with KEVIN in them and delete the parts indicated. I added the SDK sections.

I modified the version you posted and it now controls freeice!
I understand the ibus just fine. Its VB that I don't know. There is code in ibuscomm to send to the ibus but I wouldn't know how to code it up to use ibus messages from the ini file and trigger them on receiving a windows message. This is how ibusrr works.
I'll keep digging and maybe I can figure it out. The source for ibusrr would be really nice though

    E46 IBus Codes

Anybody got an updated list of IBUS codes for an e46? I've been messing with Ibus analyzer, but the codes I'm getting don't match the codes I know work.. My membership request to the yahoo hacktheibus group keeps timing out. I have windows up/down, Door Lock & steering wheel buttons working.... looking for Door unlock and trunk open.

Try one of these to open trunk:
    3F 05 00 0C 05 01
    3F 05 00 0C 95 01
    3F 05 00 0C 02 01
    To lock/unlock doors try:
    3F 05 00 0C 34 01

More codes here: Going to make a BMW e46 IBus HOWTO, need a kickstart

Just to let everyone know I'm back in the CarPC world
I'm highly opened to new suggestions so don't hesitate to send them via PM.
New features for now will include steering wheel scrolling support in the audio player/browser pages (to keep hands free) and better hibernation support for those having to restart iBusRR after resume.
Keep in mind that I'm focusing on RR as it's currently my only installed frontend in the PC and I'm using the COMSend method to send and receive data from RR which limit my support on other FEs. I'll be releasing the source code along with my next release for those interested in other FEs.

Hi Warfield .. I've made a couple of hacks to enable ffwd/frwd functionality on the steering wheel hold, repaired the e39 scrolling, and altered the phone and R/T buttons so the phone does play/pause (as the old R/T did) and T/R toggles between audio and gps.

If you want the modified source to put right and continue from there, its at

Thanks for the list of codes. For some reason they aren't working. I can get the original set working just fine (windows up/down, lock doors). Can get my lights flashing (Have to turn off ignition and uplug from iBus to stop them!). I can't get the codes I get from ibus analyzer to work at all. Am I missing something -- like do I need to send something different than the exact "full packet" I get from ibus analyzer?
