you get --:-- in my E39 if it hasn't been set, not if the headunit is connected or not. I suspect this the same thing, you just need to set it to begin with.
but... alas.. I don't have the codes, and they'd be different from my car to yours anyway.
Does anyone know how to update the clock in the intrument cluster. I know that the HeadUnit sends the clock data to the instrument display. With the HU removed you just get --:--. Has anyone figured out the IBUS message for it. I am using RR.
thanks in advance.

Hmmm... I remember reading somewhere that the clock in the instrument cluster is updated by receiving an IBus message from the HU! I may be wrong.
What is wierd is that the manual says I could use the tiny knobs sticking out of the instrument cluster to adjuct the clock but nothing happens.
Anyway that --:-- is just annoying me, time for black electric tape![]()
lol!
I know that if you press and hold the button that cycles through the different instrucment cluster displays (on the left indicator stick for me), then the display will read "PROG". I never figured out what to do next, but you never know, your answer could lay in there!

MY NEWEST INSTALL:modded infiniti fx with big screen
first windows carpc install........my liquid cooled LVDS screen :D
This is a true story, I got into this Toyota van taxi cab while I was in Maui, the driver had five pieces of black elec tape stuck onto the instrument panel covering all kinds of annoying sensor lights from Check engine, ABS, Battery... I asked about it, he said that he has been fed up with the dealer not being able to figuer out why these lights randomly come on and off so he just used the tape approach. At least it was a good conversation piece![]()
Hi All,
I have the windows fully working thanks to your plug in and the skin files.
I have copied these and made adjustments for the lights using the codes on the www.hacktheibus.com website but unfortunately its not working.
Will the IBUSRR program handle these codes?
Is there anything else I need to do?
Thanks in advance,
Paul

I'm the one who found the codes for the lights but unfortunatly I haven't tested them with iBusRR (which I wrote too)
if you want to post your skin files and .ini settings for iBusRR I'll see what I can do to help you
Due to cold weather and my recent problems with my car while experimenting with k-bus I've decided to slow down things a bit on my car and focus on something else![]()
Thought as much from the various posts.
Excellent program. I realise this is a little cheeky but would their be any chance of mailing me the source code to work with?
If you dont have a chance to investigate, i'll have a play...![]()
My file only has one lights code on, purely to test, but would definately like to take this further.
Thanks in advance,
Paul
