Im working on a GMPC skin for the elite-lite. But I'm a noob at this and it may take a week or so. The only thing I feel involved with the GMPC skin is modifying the one supplied with the plug-in to look similar to elite-lite.
The skin Im planning will keep the top bar with the Elitelite logo (Opaque to cover Garmin logo), Music Bar (slight grey transparent), and I will try to add support for an OSK and still keep the Elitelite Time/Date box in the right hand corner(With a slight opaque vertical gradient to cover the Garmin min, max, exit controls). The Volume Up and Down buttons supplied with Garmin Plugin skin will stay the same to tie in with the Garmin application.
For functionality purposes,
-The Elitelite Logo will maintain its "back to main menu cmd" and will be used to replace the "Back" button on the supplied Garmin skin. My reasoning for this is, most people will be accessing there navigation software straight from the main menu so there is no need for a separate Back button
-clicking the Music bar will open a slight gray transparent skin of the current playlist with the all the buttons: return to nav, previous track, play/pause, next track, shuffle, repeat etc. The reasoning for having this transparent is for style and function purposes. I would love to see this open on-top of the GMPC map window allowing you to see the map through the playlist interface while allowing easy music selection.
-The OSK is going to be the easiest, I just plan to move the OSK skin supplied with the plugin down to cover the bottom Garmin Controls. I may fancy it up to resemble the Elitelite OSK. Reason being I dont see why you would ever need to click these buttons when typing something to Garmin. This will pretty it up I believe.
All that being said: This is my first major skin undertaking, so if someone wants to steal my ideas and do it for me... then more power to ya! If people with extensive skin knowledge know of reasons why my idea would never work, please let me know that as well! Haha. Hope to have some preliminary pictures by the end of this weekend.
Go for it! - that would be a welcomed addition.
I am also adding support for GMPC, but it will be a very simple skin nothing fancy. I currently have it running in the 800*600 version of elite lite, but I still need to add it to the elite 800*480. Hopefully I can release the skin in a week of so.
One more thing, the next version of eLite Lite will be 2.0. It will still be simple and no major function added. I am just adding the 800*600 support.
Now for those of you who have added to the skin, I am sorry to say that eLite Lite 2.0 is not compatible with the current release of eLite Lite 1.1. eLite Lite 2 uses variables to call images and skins. This provides a much faster way of creating skins and making changes through out the skin. Sorry about that.
Ok, this is as far as I got before I researched the overlay plugin to find that it does not correctly support labels or images. So... looks like I will have to redo the brain storming. Maybe a nice row of buttons along the top that will open the main Audio skin, browser, or playlist. I really wish the overlay supported labels correctly as I would love the to have the top bar resemble the Elite-lite set up with the Track name, Artist, and Date... but these are all labels soo no go.
Take a look, tell me what you think. The OSK does not support the shift, or symbols, only A-Z, 0-9, Enter, Backspace, and Space.

I removed the row of (2) buttons, the back button and fullscreen button, so it looks like this:
The "eLite" logo at the top left also functions as a back button.
Just open up skins/elite lite/elite/gps/external-2-.elite in notepad, and make it look like this:
Hope this helps!Code:IMG,0,0,800,480,"$skinpath$\nav.png",OFF IMG,0,0,800,480,"$skinpath$\nav.png" IMG,0,0,800,480,"$skinpath$\mlblue.png",DOWN /Mid Menu //B,0,376,400,48,"EXIT", //B,400,376,400,48,"LOAD;external_gps_full.skin;RUN;$gpspath$;$gpsname$", A,0,59,801,366,
