Ok, I have been toying around with this

It will be individual station files, for example a local station here: "West Palm Beach - WRMF 97.9 Adult Contemporary.m3u". That is how the files will be generated. When I say generated, I am about completed with a new script It will parse each state, and create a folder for each state. In each state's folder will be the stations, sorted by city. You can click to play it of course, or add it as a preset. This should add, from my estimates so far, around 7,500 stations to choose from. If that is not enough... then TOO BAD! This means unless you have some obscure station, that is not listed on the web, there will be no more manual .ini editing.

    New Internet Radio Stations Guide

Ok, this is 95% complete, and just needs a little polishing to finish it.

The new script will grab all the stations from the web, and place the stations in a folder for the state that they are in.

The file name of the M3u is generated, so the city is first, followed by the call sign & name, and then the genre on the end.

Here are a couple of screen shots of some testing. The skins will change a bit, as I just used a recycled lyrics.skin for now for testing.

There are 2,437 total stations to choose from!!!

Wow, John, that's cool. I don't use Internet radio, but it may be time to start.

COOOOOL!, John..... will I still have [My Stations] though, to put my own urls in? (Which won't get deleted when using the update sites button)......... Thanks Blue.
And being that some are not shoutcast either.....ie: live365 etc.

For me it's not a big deal, it only takes a few minutes to go directly to a certain site to retrieve a new url, & copy/paste
And these urls hardly change at all. There is only like 30 custom urls that I really listen to........The ones in [My Stations].

    Thanks.

EDIT: John, in the past internet radio version, I could use RRVoice to go to a different station just by speaking the command "Next Station", which I added to the command list. Will you be putting that back in? This really helped me a lot when driving.

    Hi John,

Congrats on getting the 5.1 Patch out but before I download can I ask if you were able to include a fix for the issue I posted back in Feb please?

A Delete Song Button that will remove the song from the hard disk & update the media database or after rebuilding the database after deleting songs they will actually be removed from the database?

I have everything working just as I want it at the moment, so a little scared to run the patch in case this has not been resolved yet...

    Many Thanks

WOW john! holy smokes! you just blew this thing wide open. do you realize what you have done? if dfx can now automatically pull ALL the stations from streamcenter.com, that means we now have every single AM and FM radio station in the country at a press of a button. say goodbye to static or changing stations on long trips!

if youre reading this and you dont use internet radio, where the heck have you been? its 90% of what i do with my carpc. it allows me to not think about what i want to listen to. just keep hitting buttons until theres something you like. i almost despise my mp3 collection now... it seems so ancient and when i listen to it i know i wont be hearing anything new.

thestreamcenter.com has been such a godsend for me too. literally, any AM or FM radio station in the USA is on there. i listen to my local sports radio (wscr 670thescore) on it daily. the stream comes in so clear and high definition that i simply cannot stand to listen to that station on AM radio anymore.

i still have to install my HDradio system too. never got around to it, and the longer i wait the less i want it. internet radio does it all already.....

but i agree with rawpwr, john. please keep the "My Stations" in tact so we can still manually add custom urls if need be (like my own streaming server, one that just broadcasts from a mic in my livingroom so i know what my roomate is saying when im not there. did i just say that?)

and another thing. dfx is coming VERY close, if not there already, to being a top-notch touchscreen jukebox interface. its not quite as flashy as say AlbumPlayer, but albumplayer doesnt incorporate streaming like dfx does now.

if only i had the time, i really want to make a nice jukebox cabinet that i can hang on the wall. put a 10" touchscreen in it, with a zacate cpu setup. a 20w full featured jukebox.... man stuff is starting to get fun again. we had a good lull of progress the last half decade in technology, its time to rocket off some gadgets.

The delete song has been added. It physically removes the song from the hard drive. You get pop-up warning that it will be permanently deleted, and you have to press and HOLD yes to confirm. As for it being removed from the database...
[2:23:27 PM] John: when you delete a song on the browser screen, does it remove it from the DB as well?
    [2:23:59 PM] BlueZX3: No
[2:24:40 PM] BlueZX3: Would prob be real easy to add though
So that should be coming soon

Well maybe not as "flashy" as AlbumPlayer, there is a browse by cover mode in DFX. Simply click on the album cover in the browser screen:

Ok, looks like I have it all just about working. Between the "Genre Top 10's" and the stations by state, there are just over 8,000 stations to choose from!

I added a folder "_My Saved Stations" to the list, that you can put any custom stations in. This will not be overwritten by any of the auto station up-daters, skin patches or installers.

I also reworked all of the Internet Radio screens, to have the full size top bar to display the artist, song and station when selecting / listening to Internet Radio Stations.
