Thread: DFX 5.1.2 Released [ Updated 04-02-12 ]

Ahhh Long story short, the clocks are no longer copied to the root skin folder for use. The clock looks for it in the same directory from the way it used to be. Unfortunately I no longer have the .fla source for that clock, as it was originally in the Blue Devil skin quite a few years ago.

A simple fix is to open the dfx\logos folder, copy your Pontiac.png to the \3DLogos\ folder and name it BDLogo.png. Then it will work.

I think i figured out why the garmin button wont open garmin, even though the gps button in the music page will.

open skin.ini in dfx5 folder. do a find for "garmin" and youll see the path- J:\GarminMobilePC\Que.exe

this is incorrect by drive letter and path in my case. it should be C:\Program Files\Garmin\GarminMobilePC\Que.exe

not sure if mine was different then everyone elses, but its all with default settings.... i changed the path and it works great now.

Yea, that is the way it is with quite a few external apps unfortunately. There is no way to anticipate where someone is going to install a file.

In the current release, when you select something from the list from the button chooser, it will warn in the top description text. For most external apps, you will see to change the path in the Skin.ini if it does not work.

So there are two screens in the RRconfig which have a tick box for 'voice control'

General, Page 1 has a 'voice enabled' tick box

General, Page 3 also has a 'Use Built-In Voice control' box

Which should I be using?

edit: just testing them both and it seems the first enables rr speaking whatever action it's performing, the second just makes it crash at the splash screen?

edit: It looks like both should be left unticked.

its not a big deal. i was just mentioning it because i installed everything to default paths, so i thought others would have the same problem.

any quick fix to get the osk in garmin to not be opaque? or at least have a transparent background... the top background area blocks out the screen. you can still use the keyboard but you cant see what you are typing.

Next issue; the accuracy of speech recognition.

Has nobody else had problems getting it to actually work as intended? And this is in reference to SAPI not RRvoice, from what I tell RRvoice is doing everything it should.

I've trained four or five profiles from scratch now and it's just absolutely useless. I literally can't get it to recognise the word 'artist' the only useful word I can get to work consistently is 'menu'. And this is with the best queens english.

I must be doing something wrong but god knows what! It's driving me up the wall.

i think its pretty much 100% up to the microphone you have. anything built-in or just a cheap gaming headset is going to give you bad results. also, the input hardware you use can greatly effect the results too.

i have just the microphone alone, and my motherboard's onboard sound (alc888) does a decent job (has echo cancellation and noise reduction), but is nowhere near accurate enough for normal use. ill post back when i get the usb adapter, im curious to see how much better it is.
