Thread: DFX 5.1.2 Released [ Updated 04-02-12 ]

no offense taken in any way. DFX is a pretty complex skin for sure, and there is a lot of stuff running under the hood. It has been done, as Blue said, as efficiently as possible. I would start by disabling/un-registering some of the plugins in the RideRunner\Plugins folder, and see if that makes a difference. That is a great place to start at least. If not, then you can rule one thing out. Check out the sticky in the root RR forum for how to speed up RR. There are some pretty good tips in there, that I gathered from personal experience, as well as from other threads on the forum.

have any of you guys updated or installed any plugins recently,,, might answer a few things,,, i would disable all external PI's and just run dfx default install ,, see what the difference is ,, then enable each PI,,, until it slows up,,, alot of plugins check things on rr start up , slowing the process...

recheck all your settings make sure you don't have something switched by mistake , like scan database on start up , if there is such a setting IDK...

I know how to disable a plugin from within the skin on the plugin manager screen. But what do I need to do to un-register them? Is it as simple as running the command prompt in XP, and un-registering the plugin dll file? Or is there more to it?

That would be the way to totally make sure that the plugin is disabled, with no questions if its still doing something or not, depending on how the PI was written.
I know that some PI's have an unregme.bat type file with the dll that could be used to keep from typing those out.

Any chance of getting the new DFX.dll to get the cover art browser working again. Last time I checked it was not in the post #4 download file. I have not updated RR in my car the last 2 releases due to this issue.

a lot of songs in the playlist would do this, specially if winamp is set to do titles(tags) when files are LOADED into winamp!!!
even without this a lot of songs in the playlist would slow startup down...

so.. i suggest clearing the PLaylist before you exit, and then eval the startup time...
just to rule that out

When installing DFX5.1 i get error saying that "mscomctl.ocx" is missing. Any ideas?
Also the install of DFX5.1 wipes out my RR settings, i have to redo them

Odd. Using one of the striped down Window flavors, if so which one?

Shouldn't, the only thing that the installer would do is to set your skinpath/nightskinpath if you leave the "Set RR to use this skin as..." options during the install process.
