Nice writeup for getting S&T 2011 working!
It has been so quiet in here lately, I thought I would toss out something to see if anyone is interestedIf a picture is worth 1,000 words, then hopefully a video speaks it all!
It involved changes to the StreetsTrips.skin, skin.ini, and setting S&T as embeded in RR. To answer your question, numerous things needed to be changed to get it to work right and getting it to embed properly was a little different than I had expected. For the more experienced "coders" here, they probably would have had no problem getting things going in S&T.
There will be instructions for 32 bit installations further down. A minor change will be necessary on a 32 bit system. (was not able to test this as my XP system is down at the moment but can see no reason why it wouldn't work, this would also include Win 7 32 bit installs)
It is also assumed here that the user is adept at using Windows Explorer to find the files which need to be changed and knows how to use Notepad as well as being adept at copy and paste.
Note: For those who didn't install RR in profile mode in Win 7, it's best to uninstall everything and then re-install with profile mode checked for a lot of reasons. Trust me, it saves a LOT of headaches.
Of MAJOR note: IF YOU ARE RUNNING A PREVIOUS VERSION OF STREETS AND TRIPS THAT'S WORKING FOR YOU. DO NOT DO THIS!!!
So, here are the necessary changes for S&T to work under Win 7 64 bit.
Embedding: In order to get S&T to embed properly, open RRConfig and go to the Embedded Apps section. Type in the following. "- Microsoft Streets & Trips" (without the quotes), click "Add", save the config and exit.
Note: DO NOT LAUNCH S&T and have RRConfig get the program name from the running S&T window. It will not embed properly if you do this.
Note: It is not necessary to set Streets and Trips as the Navigation Program in the Nav section of RRConfig.
You will find the necessary files to edit in the following directory: C:\Users\Your Name Here\Documents\RideRunner\Skins\DFX5
To find the files easily use the search in the upper right of Windows Explorer
It's best to use notepad to open theses files, make the changes, save and exit. In the case of the skin file, you'll need to right click on the file and select "open with" and then Notepad.
StreetsTrips.skin:
You will find the following lines that look very similar in the StreetsTrips.skin file. Copy and paste the following over the existing lines in the open skin file. Save and Exit.
/, B, x, y, w, h, Command;COMMANDCODES, Tooltip
B,491,0,103,70,"ACTIVATE;- Microsoft Streets & Trips||SENDKEY;^u",

B15,592,0,101,71,"ACTIVATE;- Microsoft Streets & Trips||SENDKEY;{F11}","Full Screen"
Skin.ini:
Open the Skin.ini file (should open in notepad just by double clicking).
Under the [Main Menu Button Options] section find the following lines and change them to the following using copy and paste...
MenuExec_74=LOAD;StreetsTrips.skin;||RUN;C:\Progra m Files (x86)\Microsoft Streets & Trips 2011\Streets.exe;- Microsoft Streets & Trips
MenuLabl_74=St & Trips 11
Save and close notepad.
That's all there is to get S&T 2011 to work under Win 7 64.
Launch RR, pick the main menu page that you would like your S&T 2011 button on, hold down the button that you would like S&T 2011 on until the button selector opens, scroll down near the bottom and select St & Trips 2011, DO NOT SELECT THE BUTTON THAT JUST SAYS St & Trips. Select the one that says St & Trips 2011) save your choice. Done!
-------------------------------------------------------------------
32 Bit installs:
First off, if you didn't install RR using Profile mode, that's ok. It's just that your file paths will be a little different. You will find the necessary files to change under C:\program files\ride runner\skins\DFX5. If you did install in Profile mode then the path to the DFX Skin folder should be in My Documents.
For 32 bit installs you will need to remove the (x86) from the program files path for S&T to launch. So anywhere you see a file path in the above files, change them to the following...
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Streets & Trips 2011\Streets.exe
-------------------------------------------------------------------
All of the available buttons on the Streets and Trips Skin are based on Hotkeys within Streets and Trips itself and work just as they do. You can check S&T help for their functions.
Last Note: You will need Franson GPS Gate for 64 bit systems or Xport for 32 bit systems so that S&T will have a GPS Com port to use.
There. That's it. Enjoy !
Last note for sure. Don't know why but the board is displaying the word Program with a space between a and m in the skin.ini section. Make sure you remove the space before saving the skin.ini

And for the S&T 2011, also great thought once installed I figured out that Spain is not on detail...
One question about the actual weather screen. I have the temperatures info in ºC wich is what I need, but when I look on the previsions for the following days it keeps comming in ºF and cant manage to get it into Celcius. Any help?
Thanx.

John, I likey! This reminds me of the weather section of the "StreamedMP" skin which I use with "MediaPortal" HTPC software, awesome on my big SHARP Aquos 60"!![]()
Yes, I like the animated weather icons. Something RR is not designed to do, but that never stopped me before![]()
This is gonna also add a "Weather Settings" button on the main weather page. This will allow the choice of 4 different weather icon sets to use. 3 static, and one animated. These will not interfere with the icons in the main RR folder. They will be in a weather icons sub folder in the DFX skin.

@Johnkay - I believe the European version of S&T is called AutoRoute. I've no experience with that version whatsoever. You would find Spain in AutoRoute.
@JohnWBP - Thanks! Hope it helps some folks out. Was quite the learning curve! If you just want to include it in the skin that's ok by me but the skin would probably need to be renamed and new buttons added in the skin.ini so that it reflects the different versions of S&T out there so as not to screw up other folks installs. I saw somewhere in my search for clues that someone else had modified the skin to their own purposes too.
Sweet idea on the animated stuff too! Should look pretty cool!
Hi all. Anyone getting Youtube to work properly in DFX5? I'm having issues with not getting the icons to show up, download button doesn't work and only the preview switched to fullscreen starts the video.
Very nice John !
