Yes, my logic in that one sentence would make it seem like it doesn't read wma tags. But when you take into account posts like this:

I also found somewhere else where it was stated that the browser in DFX/RRMedia organized songs based on the tags, so it was important to have the tags sorted properly. I can't find the link to that comment again though. But since my browser will organize songs correctly, but it just won't display tag information while playing the song, I took that to mean it is able to read the WMA tags, as RRMEdia can compile my browser based on tag information, it just isn't displaying it properly. So I figured I had enough evidence to show that RR/RRMedia/DFX supported WMA tags.
Sorry, I'm new to CarPC"s/RR, and learning what handles what functions. I wasn't sure if reading WMA tags was a function of the skin, media player, or Ride Runner itself.
So how do I go about making it use just the file information?
RR does support WMA "tags" as shown in the pic below, my id3mode setting in my rr.ini file is 3 (Mix v2 with v1). That is the winamp file info prop window there.
Thanks for the confirmation. I set it to "Mix V2 with V1" and rescanned the DB. Still nothing. Here is a similar screenshot from mine.

I guess what I'm wondering too, is this a Ride Runner, RR Media, or DFX problem? I thought it was maybe a DFX/RRMedia problem, as I remember reading somewhere that when RRMedia builds its database, that it uses the tag information, so when you use the browser, it uses the tags to format Artist/Album/Song, etc, instead of using file names. Since I am able to use the browser fine, it seems like it can read the Tag info in some area's, but not others. Here is my browser when browsing by artist:
So for some reason, it seems to be able to read tag information when in the browser, but not in the player or main screen. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
just jumping in, i notice you dont have show ID3 Playlist checked, OR show ID3 Broswe checked
RR at this point might see no reason to get tags...
im going to look at this RARE situation, when both are unchecked
btw... u want to RULE OUT DFX and RRMEDIA... TEST WITH CARWINGS
which i am now doing, with those options unchecked...
and i have no tags in the bowser or playlist, which is expected
i also dont have the now playing...since rr didnt know that it actually needs them
i will dig deeper
rr will not get the tag... it feels it doesnt need it, it has a title from filename..
im looking to come up with a way to allow rr to try to get the tag anyway..
That was it thanks Mitch. I guess that isn't referring to just ID3 tags then, but WMA tags as well. I think that's where my confusion came from. I checked both boxes, and it works perfect now. THanks for your help!
And thanks for finding yet another, old age RR issue that I'm guessing has been there for???? RR should always read "Tags" unless specifically told to NOT use them for whatever strange reason (not that I could even think of such an instance).
I guess a small thanks to the 'M' man for checking the code and finding/fixing this issue!
Been awhile since I checked in here, but must say as always the skin is phenomenal! Have a question regarding Pandora. I see in the button selector there is now "Pandora" and "Pandora Eb" which is embedded. I downloaded sonics pandora RRpandora plugin and set the button to "Pandora" but get a skin error "Noskinsettings.skin" or something like that. Is this something not yet skinned or do I need to use the carwings skins?
