Thread: DFX 5.1.2 Released [ Updated 04-02-12 ]

For some reason
I am getting a DFXSpeak Error again. Seems like about every month or so I get this error and can't get rid of it except for reinstalling Windows. Uninstalling & reinstalling RR & DFX does not help.

Error in: Form_Load
Err #: -2147467259
Source: DFXSpeak
Description: Method '~' of object '~' failed

It's on TinyXP but all the other times (5 or so) it was on regular Windows XP

Any idea what is causing this and how to fix it besides reinstalling everything again?

Like I stated last month about the same problem if I restore the hard drive from a "good known image" before the error started it is still there with that "good image"!!
It makes me think it's a hardware problem causing the issue if it is still there after an image restore BUT why does it go away instantly from a clean Windows install?
I have tried Acronics True Image & Norton Ghost for the images. I know there are some misc files that are not restored from an image according to their forums but don't know what and or if these are the files that are causing this?


Anyone's guess, is it a Hardware or software problem?

Ya, that is a good question...when you restore a working image, the problem should go away... The DFXSpeak is just using the speaking part of SAPI to take care of the skin speaking functions. IDK, when the issue comes up, have you tried to reinstall SAPI? I am really at a loss here as to what else to try, considering the whole non fixing image thingy.

Yeah Reinstalling SAPI seperate or with office does not help. It happens right when the DFX Skin is just about loaded up the last second or two.

I have a dual boot WinXP / Win7 machine. I have RR and DFX most recent versions installed on each. I have Dashcommand installed on each. Dashcommand runs and embeds fine in WinXP but not in Win7. Has anyone had any success using Dashcommand RR DFX and Win7. Any settings you had to change or other suggestions would be great.

Sometimes it works, sometimes it embeds, but covers the lower buttons, and sometimes RR just hangs. Same exact executable line in each system.

I think I may have found my problem. I am using a different voice than the ones microsoft gives you. It is from Acapela I don't know if it was a trial or got corrupt but either way it won't work if I reinstall it. Must be a trial (causing the same problem) after a image restore. Never said it was a trial or trial expired etc.

Do you, or anyone know where I can get free alternatives or buy any custom voices that sound more realistic than the microsoft ones?

When I go to use Database in the Browser the list is blank (mode: Folders sort: genre) when I go to select another Browse Mode it just sticks at Querying Database.... Any suggestions on how to resolve?

Music Path: C:Users/$$$/My Music/Artist/Album/Song
File count: 3885

What I've tried:

1. Replaced the rrmediadb application with the one on the first page of this forum
2. Change my music path to: C:/MP3/Artist/Album/Song
3. deleted the rrmediadb database file and rebuilt file
4. uninstalled reinstalled rr and dfx in both profile and non profile. Currently not Profile

In the Plugin manager screen, select RRmedia, hit Settings, turn on the debug mode. Close RR, Start RR, and after skin is loaded, right click the RRMedia app in the sys tray, open storage path option and look/attach the RRMedia(Main)_debug.txt. The folder in RRMedia is not really using the db (hence the "Folder" mode verse Artist/...), it mimics the old style RR audio browser mode(by Folder/file). Also, check that in that same folder that you have a Cache folder which you should also have a 'FoldersCache.cache' file.

I'll try to take a look and maybe see about working that in at some point along the way..
