due to difference of opinons between El Camino and John & Blue on the path John & Blue have taken for Donations , El has with drawn , his wifi PI, to be release within the DFX installer,

Wifi PI will be available on my web site some point tonight www.carputer1.com, free to download , with option to donate if you wish ...

    BUT!!!!!!

if you come across any issues with His Plugin within DFX , he will not support you in any Errors found......

I suggest if you do have issues , use the test skin in Carwings skin , if the issue is still there then El will look into the issue

Ya, I knew about ElCamino's Wifi PI being pulled. But there is nothing else out there to initiate a Wifi connection? I hadn't used it in a while, but the last time I played with ElCamino's PI, it didn't seem to work reliably...so I didn't spend too much time with it.

I just want a skin button to cause WLAN stack to attempt a connection now. I would press this when I enable wifi tethering on my iphone. Instead of waiting for some "random" amount of time for Windows XP to scan for available WLANs again.

Does the OBDMPG screen require the no longer supported OBDMPG plug in. The link no longer works.

i downloaded the wifi manager from the auto app mart and it installed and worked just fine. i still dont even know if its the plugin were not supposed to use, because the developer link is broken. so whatever for now

ive been a slightly annoyed by how slow my truckpc seems lately. dfx5 on winxp feels a lot slower then dfx4 on win7 did. i dont know if its the os, or what. im also thinking about upgrading my cpu just to get better speed out of the voice recognition. i have it working better then i thought it would, but its not quick. sometimes after a command it might take 3 or 4 seconds just to figure it out, then another second or two to unmute the system.

who knows, it might even just be some flash problem....

IMHO, RideRunner + DFX5 + Voice Recognition + FLash + GDI Sub System + Whatever Else, needs at least a 2 GHZ Chip (Single Core) and decent Graphics to function at an acceptably fast speed for a Car PC. Theres a lot of disk activity, so SATA is the way to go if using a normal hard drive...

Cool...thanks for the info. I will try it out again.

I found a section in the DFX help file, and a text file in the DFX5\Helper Files folder called Windows Optimizations for the CarPC, that I am going to use to fine tune the performance of the car PC. Seemed to have a number of useful tips.

I am getting the same active x error on startup of the skin. I think it has something to do with the greeting and some required dll to be registered or something.

I have it on a 1.2 VIA with a CF flash drive and it runs pretty good, but i selected a non flash logo and haven't setup voice yet. I have everything ready except I need a good Mic with noise cancellation. Looking at the one in the mp3car store.

Cool, I still have some work to do on it. Do you have any experience working on skins?

Make sure debugging is disabled for rrvoice. That'll definitely drag your system down
