No, DFX4 and DFX5.x can run side by side with without any issues, though might be some(?) if one as using say DXF3 and DFX5, don't know on the latter... I am still yet to figure out why users post a comment like "nothing works". It certainly doesn't do them, us skin authors, or anyone reading the thread able to post solution(s) to mentioned issue(s). Doesn't mean that one has to define every detailed not working part, but at least give a few like one to two to start the list of possible solutions. :noidea:

Try turning on the RRMedia debug and maybe it'll show more where there is a issue.

When I said nothing works I meant neither my dfx 4.0 or 5.0 work so I don't have a working carputuer now which is frustrating.
As mentioned with the 5.0 what doesn't work is those two screens don't come up so I can't configure things. (can't play music because it doesn't know where to find it).
As to the problem with the DXF 4.0 is the font is gone. The menu buttons are all blank and when I click on what I know is the music button it doesn't launch the music player skin. Somehow DFX 5.0 messes that up. After installing and uninstalling lots of times (and once uninstalling even RR) I did get dfx 4.0 working again but I continued to try and get dfx 5.0 working along side it and now its broken again and I had to take a break. I'll try a debug and post if it reveals anything.
Here is the debug when trying to load dfx 4.0; I don't see anything wrong.
Here is a debug of loading dfx 5.0. I entered, clicked settings, clicked global settings (which didn't come up) then exited.

In future, Please only attach debug logs, keeps threads easier to read for all. Thanks.
Edit: I didn't even know one could attach. sorry.
Attaching the media debug but I don't think it reveals anything.
The logs don't seem to point to any problem.
I looked through the exectbl.ini for dfx 4.0 because I know the button labels are controlled there. I see no issues but something must be wrong. What can I try, I am stumped!
Well, I have made some progress with dfx 5.0. Not much but a little. The audio_player comes up but when I click the browser nothing happens.
The debug shows:
3/20/2011 7:25:28 AM: Enter Exec: False, audio_player.skin, "ONBTNPRESS||BrowserButton1", False
3/20/2011 7:25:28 AM: Que Exec: True, audio_player.skin, "ONBTNPRESS||BrowserButton1", False
3/20/2011 7:25:28 AM: Que Exec: True, audio_player.skin, "BrowserButton1", False
3/20/2011 7:25:28 AM: Executing: BrowserButton1
3/20/2011 7:25:28 AM: Command not executed: BrowserButton1
Also, I can get into the global setting screen now but only by clicking the [Global] button from the menus. If I click the global settings from the settings screen nothing happens.
When I do get into the global screen the switches don't work. The debug shows:
3/20/2011 7:27:43 AM: Que Exec: True, skinsettings_global.skin, "SetiListSliderOff", False
3/20/2011 7:27:43 AM: Executing: SetiListSliderOff
3/20/2011 7:27:43 AM: Command not executed: SetiListSliderOff
3/20/2011 7:27:43 AM: Que Exec: True, skinsettings_global.skin, "ONCOMMANDINVALID", False
3/20/2011 7:27:43 AM: Executing: ONCOMMANDINVALID
3/20/2011 7:27:43 AM: Leave Exec: False, skinsettings_global.skin, ONCOMMANDINVALID, False
3/20/2011 7:27:47 AM: Enter Exec: False, skinsettings_global.skin, "ONBTNPRESS||SetDayAutoOn", False
3/20/2011 7:27:47 AM: Que Exec: True, skinsettings_global.skin, "ONBTNPRESS||SetDayAutoOn", False
3/20/2011 7:27:47 AM: Que Exec: True, skinsettings_global.skin, "SetDayAutoOn", False
3/20/2011 7:27:47 AM: Executing: SetDayAutoOn
3/20/2011 7:27:47 AM: Command not executed: SetDayAutoOn
3/20/2011 7:27:47 AM: Que Exec: True, skinsettings_global.skin, "ONCOMMANDINVALID", False
3/20/2011 7:27:47 AM: Executing: ONCOMMANDINVALID
What would be the cause of all these "Command not executed"?
In the DFX skin.ini I found a setting for DFX debug mode. I set that to true but I don't see any file being created. I hoped that would help me figure out why certain screens don't load and certain buttons don't do anything. Is that supposed to cause a file somewhere or would it put its info into the RR debug file? I looked there but didn't see anything new. I am still trying to figure this out. For now, I can get it to play playlists so at least I have some tunes but I have no browse music as yet.
Anyway, thanks for any help anyone is able to offer. I am really stumped.
What this is coming down to is the skins Exectbl.ini file, any time the skin is executing a cmd that is in that file, its not being translated like it supposed be. In both of the dfx logs you should see lots of lines that look like "x/xx/xxxx x:xx:xx xx: EXECTBL Translation: xxxxx -> xxxxxxxx....". This showing both the original cmd and the cmd(s) that its being translated to, and yours is not being translated. First, check that the file is there, then make sure that it looks ok when you open it. If it don't look right, delete it, and use a copy of the "Exectbl(orig).ini" file to set it back to its original installed state.
OT, What audio are you using, as I see the debug logs don't show any line info from the mixer?
Thanks for your help.
Edit: winamp latest version is my audio player
Attached are the skin's exectbl and also RRs.
RRs was pulled from Users\my documents\RideRunner\config
DFX I installed into program files becuase DFX would lock up on any button if installed out under Users
So DFX's exectbl is found in program files (x86)\riderunner\skins\dfx5
I have not altered them so I am not sure what the problem would be.
I did delete and replace with the Exectbl(orgi).ini with no change in behavior.
I have Sygic Fleet working but how do i let it work in the skin?
I am new with Carpc and i have RR with this skin and i selected Sygic GPS but it is blank.. and in the RRconfig i have set everything good.
can some help me?
Well, I started from scratch, I uninstalled DFX 5 and RR. Cleaned out RR stuff in Users directory and RR files in program files (x86) then reinstalled RR (non profile mode) and DFX 5 (non profile mode). I can see that it now uses the skins exectbl because I do see the "EXECTBL Translation" lines in the debug file. It still locks up though when I click settings and some other things (though I can now use the music browser). Debug is attached. I don't see anything in there that helps figure out what is causing the lockup. My windows 7 is very vanilla, nothing funky done to it. When the program locks up I can let windows kill the program by clicking on a button till windows pops up dialog giving you the option to close the program. That is why the debug file ends there.

Its working much better now. Any idea why playing that wav would cause it to lock up?
Blue ZX3, no need to send debug files. My AutoIT error is gone now, when I was adding songs to cds in the virtual cd changer. What I did was a full uninstall of Winamp, along with a full install, not (overwriting) existing install. I didn't have this problem with my test machine when I overwritten WA ver. 5.13 . I think that was the problem. My bad.
:tape2: ETA of DFX5 patch?? :tape2:
I have Sygic Working :).
Now i want to have igo Working to, have it to open it but it opens in a new window :(
Some help please
