You actually have this completely backwards as to what DFXSpeak does. When a feature in the skin is of the talking type, it uses this background app to control both the current audio source muting/pausing while speaking whatever it was that told to speak, and the actual speaking, hence the app name DFXSpeak . It has nothing for do to with RRVoice for the most part unless again the command that you spoke to it was some kind of a spoken reply.

And the latter part, would be in the form of say a voice cmd like: "Find this song in my collection" ?

    Just to be clear:

RRVoice listens for voice commands such as "Main Menu", "Audio Browser" ect

DFXSpeak is for the system to speak to you.

They can be used together of course:

{You to RRVoice} What time is it?

    {DFXSpeak to you} It's currently 8:42 PM"
Front End of Choice: Ride Runner (Is there anything else??? ) & Powered by the DFX5.1 Skin Available in the Mobile App Mart

    ok symantics, fine

i just want rrmedia to show in the frontend browser what song you are on, just like it does when you select it by your finger. basically, i think if you either type into the frontend or speak into it, the display should do the same things for the same commands.

edit- by the way, i hit a milestone in my 3 year carpc endevor so far. today when i left work, i got in the car, the computer came out of sleep and the frontend actually resumed internet radio all on its own, i actually thought i had it on the stereo tuner! its always required me to either reset the internet connection or re-click on the net radio station for it to begin playing after a shutdown or sleep cycle... this was the first time it did it automatically without being on my home network.

i think the reason its finally working like i wanted is two things. i actually have a dedicated internet line for the car now, one that is over usb and doesnt require any connection imitation. and two, i have massively increased the streaming buffer in winamp, so there is about 30 seconds of buffer to allow things to work before the buffer runs out. in my experience, having the buffer run out on streaming radio means you can easily lose the connection altogether for that station.

and to top it off, when i got inside the house i remote started my car computer and logged onto a vnc connection over my home network. so it is seamlessly switching from home network, to cellular network, back to home. this is really nice...

Congratulations. Now go download a copy of Clonezilla and immediately save an image of your 'puter drive so you can easily get back to where you are now when you inevitably FUBAR your system. That has saved me countless times.

I would hope that sometime during that 3 years, he would have had the notion of using some kinda imaging SW. If not when you hit that perfection mark(does that even exist? lol) then at least between some of the setup stages, so that its easy to hop in your time machine and go back in time...

system images are a lifesaver. and then win7 came out that has an imaging system so convenient to use that i dont even bother with images on xp machines anymore. system restore is all ive been using on my carpc.. im waiting for rrvoice to work in win7, then ill go back to imaging my carpc. ive tried most imaging programs and win7's is a different league as far as ease of use and reliability goes.

perfect streak lasted only that one day. i think it actually might be a usb problem, for as erratic as this problem as been.

also, why does DFX lock up when an internet radio station is having a hard time buffering? this seems like normal behavior, but winamp itself stays fully functional.

Yes, use some kind of image software. I been using Acronis True Image 10 for all my CarPc installs, just in case of system corruption or a problem with a plug that is not playing nice. I would not use anything else. And also, when Jebus does releases RRVoice for "7" this is when, and only when I'll switch from XP Pro. This is what's holding me back on upgrading, "1" plug ........funny huh.

Clonezilla = free. Acronis > free.
