Ok. I did a bit more work lately, and started throwing it together in the skin editor. Looks a lot better now, especially since now it's a working skin in progress as opposed to just some graphics i put together...
UDATE: 12-5-09 - I have been testing the skin now for quite some time, running it constantly to make sure it's 100% stable. all of the media parts of the skin are without a question 100% stable. I've redone the port configuration screens to make everything easier to get to and less graphics to mess with every time something is changed. I have to run off to work, so i will be sure to update this again when i get home.
UPDATE: 4-5-09 (updates are in bold)
LOTS of things added:
List Driven Playlist Loader
List Driven EQ Loader (Thanks to Blue ZX3)
Fusion Brain PORT CONFIGURATIONS! (Select the port number and the skin will automatically adjust to use THAT port)
Auto-Dimmer (requires fusion brain and photosensor, updates once a second to auto-dim the screen based on ambient lighting...like a blackberry)
Manual Dimmer (9-step dimmer from full bright to full dark)
Blackout Mode (after 4 seconds, the dimmer goes full dark. Overrides Auto-dimmer)
Auto-Lights (still has some coding to be done)
Auto-HVAC (likewise)
Remote Starter (designed to turn the car on, start the car, then lock the car. Uses brake light as automatic shutdown switch, just like a normal remote starter)
External Programs (designed for systems with changed windows shells)
2nd Audio Player screen, graphical with album art and song info
New general setting, toggle switch for original or 2nd audio player screens, see updated screenshot below...
FIXED ALL ICONS...Now they all MATCH what they are for! (this includes the main menu, main menu 2, and controls menu
Calc on main menu 2 replaced with Sensors......more to come on this....
NUMOSK Driven Port Configurations with Error Checking (already programmed, but wont be implemented until next RR release. Wont allow a port number outside the 0-15 range)
Shutdown Timer (a.k.a. Turbo Timer) Keeps computer running for X minutes after system loses Ignition input at power supply (works only for systems using a powersupply with an Ignition sense input)
Multi-Brain Port Configuration Support

Yes, I like the look too, very clean and simple, which is important when driving and computing at the same time.
Build Things, it keeps your brain busy.

i just ordered a lilliput 8" screen so that i can REALLY test this out as i'm developing it...
i was wondering.........anyone know how i can make RR "beep" when i click a button? I know it's kinda stupid, but it would be nice to have that feature available to me....

you can have play a wave file onbutton press,
found this in the doc's of RR folder
+ Added "PLAYSOUND" skin command - "PLAYSOUND;wavefile.wav"
yeah about that.........how do i get it to perform two commands at once? I can't find anything about it in the documentation...
i'm trying to get it to load a screen and beep, but it seems to only want to do one or the other...
is there a way i can just make it so anytime i click something it beeps, like an onclick event? i didn't see that in the exectbl.ini, i saw several like it, but i have no clue what they are, so i aint touching it...

for button press
i think not totally sure, but i think you can use
"ONBUTTONPRESS","PLAYSOUND;XXXX.wav"
in your Exctbl.ini
skin load
simular but try
"sound1","PLAYSOUND;XXXX.wav"
LOAD;name.skin||sound1
AUDIO||sound1
ah, that was my mistake....i didnt know i had to use double bars "||"...it works now, thanks!
